Amazing fight from Chucho.

:worship:

For a guy not known for his mental stability, it would have been very easy to let this one slip at 2-1 sets down. Probably Chucho's most important ever victory.

According to the Argentina tv channel which is transmitting the match, up to now there is a possibility that they might play today if it stops raining.

I hope he can finish it off without choking.

It really doesn't seem likely that they will resume play today. It's raining pretty heavily and there are lots of clouds, and let's mention that is already 5:00 PM here, it's getting dark.

How is the audience against Hewitt? Are they really hostile because of Lleyton's problems with the Argentines, or is it just a 'normal' Davis Cup atmosphere?
Hope Hewitt wins. Bacause of the rain he can listen to Eye of the Tiger again and be fired up!!!!

To me it's typical Davis cup atmosphere
Cheering for serve faults, overreacting at the favorites winners, booing, etc. Nothing new :).

I miss Lleyton's "Come On"s and other emotive aspects. (I do not miss him yelling slurs or at the linespeople, but the come ons and lawnmowers are not part of that.) That fires him up. He needs to rekindle that fire. He got it briefly during his DC match against Coria in 2005- but it has been a wet blanket since then. When I watch him now I want to shake him and tell him "wake up!" And three years ago- I never thought I would say that about Hewitt.

Unfortunately, Guille's blanket has been even wetter since then! When I watch him now I want to shake him and tell him "wake the fuck up!" And 2 years ago - I never thought I would say that about Coria. :)

Anyway, Chucho the job is not done. Remember Stuttgart (and make sure it doesn't happen again!) - you've had your overnight rest, serve up the bagel for Lleyton tomorrow it would be rude for him to come all that way and not be fed.

Well Mancini is there courtside and it has been a strange match so far. He was shitting himself in the 1st set, but it was good to see Chucho get fired up for a change, yes he has a break poiint to defend against.

It's far from over, but if he wins this, it will be huge for him. He will have to win it and Hewitt won't be giving him the presents.

I am listening now to Hewitt's press conference. He sounds much more mature now. And he behaved very well during the match.

Overall an expected loss, but Lleyton actually had a much better chance than I thought at the beginning!

Argentina should win this year. If not this year, then finally when?! It would be about time for such a tennis nation.

The next year seems to be the right one. Although I think they have a shot this year.

In 2007, we would play most of the powerful DC teams at home... and Cañas will be in the team to play along with David on fast surfaces. :)

Experimentee
09-24-2006, 06:04 PM
Lleyton was awful in the last two sets. One of the most pathetic displays I've seen from him, surprising to see it come in DC :help:

In the last few games of the 5th set, I think Chucho may have choked if given the chance, but Lleyton was just making easy errors on the 2nd or 3rd shot. Chucho didnt need to do anything, apart from on match point when he went for a big FH dtl, but he got a chance to do that because Lleyton hit the ball short. I thought he may have been tired from the 4th set, but he still played the same the next day.

Lleyton is just not the player he used to be. A few years ago he would never make easy UEs on crucial points like he does now. I didnt want him to win, but I'm still disgusted at his performance!
