The Real Ivan Ljubicic...thanks BG

I was lucky enough to have several chats with Ivan over the week whilst I was in Beijing - new found respect for the big man, softly spoken and had a lot of time for the people who watched him. I can’t think of too many nicer guys I have met on tour. Shame the same can't be said about his compatriot based on my experience this week, but that is another story.

I missed his match against Lee as I was on my way back home, but I'm not surprised he lost as he was telling me how he considers the next 2 months probably the most important in his career as he has to defend a whole heap of points and that is his main focus. He only entered Beijing because of his early exit at the USO. He made it pretty clear to me he had no intention of trying to win the tournament this week, he tanked yesterday :wavey:

Top guy in my books and GL for the indoor season

Hmm.... I'm not at all surprised to hear of his good qualities as a person, but with depressing inevitability I can predict that the last sentence in the second paragraph is not going to go down well on here. To say nothing of the last sentence in the first paragraph.... I assume BG is referring to Super Mario rather than the true "big man" of Croatian tennis, right?

He was doing the same thing Roger did in Cincy...instead of hitting with a partner, he wanted couple live matches. and he will be staying in that part of the world for Bangok Indoors

Deliberately losing matches is not something a moral person does. It`s dishonest and cheats the fans out of the money they spent for a ticket to see the match. I think you are latching on to this "tanked" business to try and save face after the very embarassing lose of the world #3 against a challenger player. I am not buying it. Lubichoke has had a lot of embarassments on the court recently and has shown a lack of heart. His career is in trouble.

:haha: Ivan never said he tanked....BG said that :wavey:
and the career is still soaring..he did much better this year during the hardcourts than last year. and still dominated Indoor. i would like to see you come back and post after Tennis Masters Cup.

No it is you that are making excuses trying to minimize the lose by saying he did what Roger did at Cincy, eg. didn`t give his best effort. Hogwash. Lubichoke has had a lot of embarassments lately. Stand up and take the lose for what it was, another joke performance from Ivan. :wavey:

Unfortunately you cannot separate the two, it`s the player that brings the game and Ivan has been a disgrace. And to imply after the embarrassing loses that he was not trying to win is laughable. Is like the kid who gets his ass beat that say he wasn`t trying, "oh I didn`t want to hurt him." Yea right...LOL

You have it wrong. No one "hates" him I do not believe. He is a nice guy that helps handicapped children. But many like me are disgusted with his tennis recently. He needs to step up and be a man on the court.

Deliberately losing matches is not something a moral person does.

Neither is drawing conclusions about another person's morality - a person you know nothing first hand - based on what someone else told you about him.

Funny thing is that you chose to ignore the fact, that bad gambler was actually speaking positive things about Ljubo, and instead focused on what you think showed him in bad light. Lets just face it - you are a hater. I doesn't matter whether you agree or not - your words speak for yourself. No point denying it with lame excuses.

.

Actually, I don't think you are a bad person, just showing you your own medicine - the recipe known as 'jumping into conclusions'. Hope you don't get mad.

I agree with BG's statement...I met Ivan at Nottingham last year and he made time to have a few words with me. He wasn't like other players who completely ignore what you say and pretend not to understand (ahem! Hrbaty) or walk away whilst talking to you.

That said...I still like to tease the Croatards  :fiery:

If you want a good person go to a humanitarian convention or a church.

Tennis is about talent and skill. Marcelo Rios is 5 times the player Ljubicic will ever be.

As for Ljubo, he polarises people, plus the Cro fans like to wind up other posters and vice versa the other way around, it's a bit of give and take that passes as the status quo for MTF.

If it didn't matter what kind of person a tennis player was, then nobody would have any other choice but to be a diehard Fedtard, because he is the best that the game can offer at the moment.

Nobody denies that Rios was much more talented and a better player than Ljubo will ever be. Except for Fed and Rafa, the field really is sort of weak these days, we are waiting for all those youngsters to finally step it up (not just Rafa). But, you can't say that Ljubo is completely useless. Fact remains that he is capable of producing some great and exciting tennis - not in the league of Fed, but is it really all that matters? I don't know about you, but I can enjoy even supporting roles, not just leading ones.

Ljubicic will stay in top 5 next year....rest of the year he has Bangok, Vienna, Lyon, Madrid and Paris + TMC
in those 6 he will get 25wins...giving him 76 for the season...how many players have won over 75 matches in a year?

Ugh, if Luby is a mouse, that means he is one awesome mouse since he even managed to get to the #3 spot on the list of MEN's tennis players. How did all those men allow a mouse to sneak into their ranks, and so high for that matter?

Oh, and BTW, I don't read non-tennis, are you a contender in the upcoming arse-clown contest? That would explain a thing or two, not only about you, but also some other people that behave kinda strange lately

He has been quite the mouse as of late, no heart, no fight, embarassing loses. Worst case being the Robredo match, after choking away the first set hanging his head and giving up like a pouting kid who didn`t get an ice cream cone. Outside the court, he is a gentlemen!

I remembered argentine journalists talked very well of him about how he treated them. He has no problem to talk and give minutes of his time to talk to the press. He is also very respectful at any time, instead of the argentine players who has good and bad moments.

Glad for gambler that he got nice meeting with Ljubicic. I sayed in past that I think he is not the worst personality, but his sore-looser behaviour and bitching (I did not get enough calls, I am true #2, Nadal sucks, everywhere but in USA I would have won against Roddick, balbalbla), his boring game and some annoy Croat fans is too much.

But this thread also show that Ljubicic image must be demaged a lot. Because normally nobody post something good about a player except on Federer and in normal you only find negative things about players.
