Excellent news, I see he is through to the final.

I get the feeling he won't have a long career due to his shoulder and he'll continue to get injuries due to his serve but it would be great if he could get back because on his day he could beat anyone.

If Joachim truly is healed then it shouldn't be a problem to be top 75 within a few months. It's just the fully healed part that scares me. :p

It is not a big deal - after all he is playing the #2. It is a pity that he had to play such a highly ranked player but it was bound to happen sooner or later due to his drop in rankings.

and from itftennis.com some news of the 3 futures in sweden earlier this month:

hree Futures took place at two venues in Gothenburg and one in Falun. The events marked a welcome return from injury for Joachim Johansson.

Sweden F4 was held at GLTK in Gothenburg, the first of three $10,000 tournaments. Johansson's highest ATP ranking was 9 (52 week roll over). This was achieved on 14th February 2005, but he has since seen his ranking drop to 724 following a serious shoulder injury.

Johansson was awarded a wild card into the tournament and managed to reach the final, though his progress there was not straight forward, being taken to three sets by Martin Pedersen in the first round and also by Marcus Sarstrand in the semi finals. In the final he came up against the top seed, Bjorn Rehnquist. Johansson took the first set easily, but the second was a closer affair and was decided on a tie-break, with Johansson claiming his first singles title since February 2005, winning the match 61 76(4).

The doubles final was an all-Swedish encounter with Rickard Holmstrom and Christian Johansson taking on Johan Brunstrom and Robert Gustafsson. After losing the first set, Holmstrom and Johansson came back strongly to take the next two sets and the title 67(4) 75 62.

The action for Sweden F5 reamined in Gothenburg, but moved to Ullevi Tennis Club. Joachim Johansson did not play here and with the top seed Rehnquist retiring during his quarter final match, the draw opened up. The final was again an all-Sweden affair between Ervin Eleskovic and Brunstrom, the former completing a victory 63 63.

Holmstrom and Christian Johansson again paired up for the doubles competition, taking on Paul Ciorascu (SWE) and Catalin Gard (ROM). The number three seeds proved too strong and Holmstrom and Johansson took their second title in consecutive weeks 76(4) 64.

Sweden F6 was held at the Falun Tennis Club, with the top seed Markus Sarstrand (SWE) not losing a set in claiming his second Futures singles title of 2006. In the final he defeated Rickard Holmstrom 76(5) 76(3). Joachim Johansson was back in action, though he was forced to retire during his semi final match against Holstrom, after taking the first set on a tie-break.

In the doubles, Sarstrand teamed up with Brunstrom. Seeded number three they defeated the winning doubles team from the previous two weeks, Holmstrom and Johansson, in the semi-final 64 64. In the final they were up against the top seeds Daniel Danilovic (SWE) and Ervin Eleskovic (SWE). This was a closely fought match with the first two sets both going to a tie-break, before Sarstrand and Brunstrom were able to take the match 67(8) 76(4) 62.

Sweden F6 was able to attract a decent crowd, with entertainment being shown before the singles final and a Kids day with mini tennis for the youngsters to also get involved.
