I would be very surprised if any American player made it into the quarter-finals of next year's French Open. James Blake has the best chance but I expect him to get knocked out around the 3rd or 4th round.

I voted for 8 of the 10 as they clearly will comprise all 8 quarterfinalists next year :D

Blake defeated Moya and Almagro this year and should have won against Ancic. Hes clearly the best US clay court player right now (Houston doesnt count).

Clean sweep for the Americans at RG next year with 8 quarterfinalists. Roddick and Blake will falter early but stay on in Paris to cheer their compatriots.

As long as he only plays 3 and 4 sets matches, why not? :)

Donald Young could have a good clay game, if he can learn a few things.

If Ljubicic can make the semis, no reason why Roddick can't make the quarters.

Blake's win and play against Almagro was the best claycourt tennis an American has shown in a long time (Agassi excluded). Yeah, it wasn't classic claycourt tennis, but man was that FH on during the match. That was some of if not THE best hitting from one side that I have seen all year.

I rest my case.

(feel free to prove me wrong next year, James!!!!!!)
how did jimmy Connors do at the french?Lots of QFs and SFs - 4 times each.

It was a good performance, but one has to bear in mind that not only was the weather nice and hot, making the court faster, but Almagro's power game is something that Blake loves to combat against with his own powerful shots. Monfils in the next round was something totally different, a consistent grinder with a frequently defensive approach.

Rodduck's new game plan could do well for him during the clay season. But his movement on clay will still be in question.

Ljubo grew up on clay and has beaten some of the best clay court specialist around. Roddick is nowhere near Ljubos level on clay.

and Ljubicic in Dussedorf too. :) . He choked against ancic but in Dusseldorf come back from two break down.(ljubicic serverved for the match two times but got broken.) to force a TB which he ended up losing.

Houston doesnt count
Why not . . The field is poor in houston but it is still a clay cout tournament. Do you count Rome ?? .

Houston is a clay court event more or less exclusively played by Non-Clay court specialists.

Yes i agree with that particular point. Ljubicic worst surface is Grass.
Roddick has five titles on clay.(four of them were on Houston but one of them was in Austria in 2002. and guess who he defeate in the Finals of that tourney?? It is Davydenko.) and he also reached SF in Rome 2002.(lost to haas.). How many titles has Ljubicic won on clay.?? . Roddick can play on clay and so does ljubicic. So there is no comparision between these players.

Ljubicic does have tremendous wins on clay though (Ferrero, Gaudio, Coria to name but a few), more impressive than just about all of Roddick's claycourt scalps. I mean everyone complained about his soft draw at RG this year, but he still had to take out Monaco from two sets down and Ramirez-Hidalgo in four, both could give Roddick major problems on clay.

OF course,

You guys all right

I told you one or two of American will be there, Q FINAL.

Could James, Andy, or another one.

Donald is still time to wait, may be 2008 or 2009, He will be a favorite to win French open, but 2007, it's still too tough to say, he be Q FINAL.

Jenkins and Kuznetsov both are great player, We will see those two guy in Top 20 next couple years.

Jenkins is another guy, I accept to be Top 5, possible better than that.

Alex Kuznetsov is anther guy, who can be Top 20

Sam Querrey is my favorite one, who will play very well next 10 years. He will be Top 10 for sure within two years. But he is not a favorite in French Open.

James really surprise me this year with his claycourt play. If there is an American in the French 2007 QF it would be James and I mean the only American. Whoever voted for Ginepri, this guy almost got triple bageled by a 17 year old in FO 05.

Roddick is nothing more than a wannabe claycourter.

That is true. Non clay courters want to play there because they want add a clay title t thier collection. . Even Mardy Fish(who barely wins matches on clay.) won it. That shows how week that field is.

Young should first win a match on hard. (I think he 0-9 on ATP Tour.)
Although he did show sign of improvent.

What about Kendrik?? The guy with big serve. He impressed me at wimbledon. Is he capable of reaching top 10??
