Will the real top 10 please stand up?

Of all the joking and disrespecting, bashing, and flaming of players, I belive we should all say who we think is the REAL top 10 :) However, when you do the top 10, it is advisable (but not mandatory) to use either a nickname, or some other humorous name.

So, for example, my top 10 is as follows:

1. Big Nose Roge
2. Phat Ass Nadal
3. Andy Quacker Rodduck
4. Fat Dave
5. Hippo
6. Blake...James Blake
7. Kolya Everyweek
8. Whos ur Baghdaddy
9. Richie Gasquetaire

What do you mean by 'real top 10'? 'Real' as in Ljubo 'real #2'?

Do you mean their current form, or the best game you can think of them playing?

If it is the latter, then consistent guys (like Davy) or confident guys (like Nadal, or even Nole) wouldn't be very high, since we already witness their top game more often than not.

The best game I could think of, would be like
1. Fedbot
2. Marat
3. Richie
4. Fat Dave
5. Murray
6. Rafa
7. Potato
8. ARod
9. Guille
10. one of Birdman, Baggy, Bloke, Luby, Gonzo, Davy, Boredo, A-choke - can't make up my mind...

Xristos, Federer, Safin and Nadal would make up four.

The rest would involve Nole, Murray, Marcos, and Berdbrain.

Robredo is ranked wayyyyyy too high (20-30), Ljubicic and Davydenko (10-20 really)

Rankings don't always tell the whole story. For example Tommy Haas' best surface is probably the one at the Australian Open and he may have been the second best player in the tournament. Yet he gets Federer early and loses out on a huge amount of points. The same thing happened with Gasquet at Wimbledon whilst Stepanek had an easy draw and gained a great deal of points. So I don't think the top ten always reflects ten best performers over the year let alone the ten best players.

Still having said that the other nine are there on merit and have won against the so called better players.

It has already been stated that the real #1 is Nadal, and the real #2 is Ljubicic. Both Hewitt and Roddick belong to the real top 4 so they have to come after. Gasquet is definitely top 5 material so he takes the next spot.
Agassi of 2005 almost beat the Best Player Ever, and he can't have lost so much in just one year, thus he is #6. Youzhny, Ferrero and Berdych have beaten Nadal recently, and even if those losses were flukes and on hc it is good enough for them to earn #7-9. #10 is shared between Federer, who barely managed to beat Nadal on grass, and Safin, who plays like a #1 at least 10% of the whole season.

I asked Blaze what he meant by 'real' top ten, not you. I guess Blaze knows better what he meant by it than you.

On the other hand, I agree that entry rankings show exactly how players have performed last 12 months - although not 100%. People who have the unfortune of playing Roger in the 1st round (or Rafa in the 1st round of any clay tournament) will be lower on that list than they perhaps deserve. Still, I believe Blaze didn't have that on his mind, but something else - my guess was maybe the potential? The best game we could even expect from someone, based on what we saw they are capable of producing? Stuff like that.

Gasquet needs some major titles to show us that. Safin already has some, at least.
