What about Manual Santana FO 61 and 64, US Open 1965 and Wimbledon 66 winner?

true, Santana has more Slam wins BUT what about Nadal's records, streaks and so on...I think we should take it into account and his age too. :p :p :p

I was basing it on ALREADY.

I expect Nadal to supercede Santana by a few grand slams in the next decade.

Its Manuel "manolo" Santana.

Although manual is a funny name. ;)

Nadal should be able to win 4 or 5 Roland Garros titles and 1 or 2 AOs.

I reckon he'll win about 7 slams.

Naranoc
09-13-2006, 07:41 PM
He won't need to (and might not anyway) win that many slams to get into the History books. All he'll have to do is become known as the man who prevented possibly one of the greatest tennis players of all time (i.e. Roger Federer) achieving a Career Grand Slam. :D

If that happened, Federer would probably just be referred to as a Glorified Sampras. Fine by me ;)

Of all time? Has time stopped? Why did no one tell me?

LOL. I'm kidding. He's certainly one of the most accomplished Spanish tennis players.

Action Jackson

Tati Rascon is the greatest Spanish player.

Naranoc
09-13-2006, 07:44 PM
Googled his name and didn't find much ;) Was he just your average baseline-basher then?

Action Jackson

Do an MTF search, and click on posts instead of threads and there are Rascon postings.

Nadal is the only spaniard mentally ready to win, or do well in wimbledon. I see a career like agassis but more french opens and much less us opens and australians and possibly a wimbledon. Such a random prediction but if he goes on the rate hes at, meaning no injuries or trying to play a game u cant, then this should happen

Not yet, but sure he's well in his way to become the best ever... for me, despite what numbers says it's Sergi Bruguera, who brought a new light and hope to our tennis :hearts::bounce:
Of course Santana, Gimeno, Orantes,Alex, Juanqui, Moyá,Vivi, Arantxa, Conchita were/are great but Sergi rocks :rocker2:

Manuel Santana is the best ever Spaniard. His achievement of winning Wimbledon has never been repeated by any of his fellow countrymen.

But Nadal was close this year...and Santana doesn't have the streak...And let's not glorify this damn Wimbledon! :p

Manuel Santana because he has won 4 grand slam titles. I don't think Rafa can be considered as great as him until he at least wins the same number of grand slams.

Nadal has to reach number one, then will be officially better than all his countrymen.
The irony of that is that Nadal collected more points than many of the previous number ones but he's still stuck on the number 2 spot: he just happens to be playing tennis in the time of the mighty Federer.

Or win two more slams.
