Since Roddick joined the group, US Team has never won a single tournament. Even with the help of the Bryans, US still could not win Davis Cup unlike what Croat team last year.

So do you believe he can single handedly bring Swiss team to victory?

I doubt it.

Since Roger said it will become his main goal in a few years I'd say it's possible. If he plays his guts he just needs one more point from Wawrinka/Chiudinelli/Roshardt.......

Since Switzerland now have a good n°2 player (wawrinka), a relatively ok double player (allegro) and a couple of potential n°3 players (bastl, chuidinelli, bohli and lammer) so we can imagine that they'll be able to win the davis cup one day. It will mostly depend on the surface (if Switzerland choose it or not) and of course if fed plays or not. Also, a couple of juniors are coming who could be potientially very good players (roshardt, sessagesimi,...).

They will have to defeat Serbia first, which won't happen, I hope! :worship:

  you really see Roger losing a match in front of a DC home crowd when he's able to cope with 23'000+ hostile crowd

Yeah, he can do it if he chooses to play the doubles as well as the two singles.

Well', you know, it's not all about Roger, otherwise, they wouldn't be called Davis Cup Team.

yes easy DC win provided roger plays all the matches, and plays 3 matches each rubber (singles twice, doubles once), as he is a great doubles player if he bothered playin more

sure federer can win both singles rubbers but he is not fat or old enough to be a great doubles player so my answer is no

If they can somehow get Allegro/Wawrinka to concentrate only on doubles and trim them together, they could win. Roger shouldn't play doubles, he has enough to do to defend his position as a god.

And they'd better hope not to face Spain on clay.

 I'm in doubt if federer will play all DC macthes.
I don't know why but I think he will not play all.

I admit I don't know all that much about Davis Cup, but is one player permitted to play all the singles matches? I thought you had to have 2 different players???

Hell, maybe Roger could just play doubles by himself too. He can be the entire Swiss team.

Pierre Paganini is a guru :) He will build a solid DC team within 2 - 3 years.

Pashanski is not in the Team, and, Tipsarevic is back in top 100, furthermore, he always plays great tennis for his country.

Why didn't Switzerland choose clay.?? Wawrinka is good on clay than on hard courts.
All the pressure will be on Wawrinka for Switzerland. Yes this tie will be very interesting. Looking forward to watch Djvokovic vs Federer.(they had a close encounter in monaco.) and it is not a cakewalk for switzerland.

Didn't Stan recently outplay the Mighty Nalbandian on HC (Cincinnati) ?

Federer alone can't win davies cup that's just stupid!
but with Warwinka they may have a chance
i've seen Fed play doubles once and he sucked, not cos of his volleys or anything it's more of a problem with sharing the court, it looked to me that the other person on the court was bothering him lol
he's too used to play alone he doesn't really another player on his side so when he play doubles he tends to make more errors or it looked like it anyways
:P

Nalby is not in form at the moment . Before playin in cincinati he is beaten pretty badly by Sangunetti in Toronto. He lost like 2-6 1-6. . I'm not saying wawrinka will not have a chance. But wawrinka is a beatable player. Why didn't you guys choose clay  . Federer and wawrinka are tough to beat on clay.

If Roger and Wawa will compete always on the team, Switzerland have a good opportunity, but I doubt about the patriotism of Roger for playing always on the team.

If not for your thread title & the mention of 'Swiss team', I would have thought you were talking about the US team. Your posts are a bit  sometimes, no constructive thought in them whatsoever.

Federer has stated that he will only play Davis Cup 1 to 2 times per year. He does not want to play more then that because it could affect with his training and rest periods. But he said that he would concentrate on Davis Cup in a few years from now. By then he probably will be playing like Agassi this year. ;)
