Roger Already a Tennis Legend with nine slams

Roger Federer is the best European champion since Borg which is quite an accomplishment. Roger with nine grand slam singles titles is already a legend. This young man also has Borg's super consistency week in and week out.
Some people in the press say Roger is boring but I like that he has class on and off the court. Its great that Roger won in New York given the fact at the start of the year the media were saying he was on his way out. Remember when Roger lost to Nalbandian in the Masters Final. Some people were speculating 2006 would be the end of Federer. Here we are at the end of the year. Yes I consider the year over by the US OPEN. Because Roger has won 3 out of the 4 slams again just like he did in 2004. I think he's the first male player to do this since Laver in the 1960s. Its funny five years ago the media were saying Safin and Hewitt were going to become legends and all that crap. Yet so far both haven't proven they can stay at the ttop.

Another one of these threads... We know Federer is on his way to the hall of fame, as his fans have been eagerly reminding us for the past few days. There's no need to kill the subject.

Roger is the only player in the Open Era to have won 3 majors during a calendar year twice. The ones who say he is boring don't pay close attention to what Roger is doing during matches. They are probably looking for brat boy tirades and neon clothing.

What is also impressive is that not only did he win the 3 majors.....he's also won 4 MS in the same year, and he's also made it to the finals of MC, Rome, and RG. I don't think any former #1 has done that.

Borg was great, but he didn't like to travel to Australia. He prefered to just stay in Europe. Roger is doing a more thorough job of covering tournaments around the world.

Good point PamV  ...One of the things I admire about Federer so much is that he really does understand the responsibility involved in what he`s doing :worship: Past legends like Borg & McEnroe were much more selfish :o
