A few shakes but a decent performance. Great first set. Broken once in both the second and third sets but rallied and broke again. Missed two match points at 5-4 40-15 before finally rounding it out.

Good luck in the final :) 6th in a row.

Good of Roger to not make fitness an issue. He has played a lot of best of 5 setters the last few days, but has only lost one set, so he shouldn't be too tired tomorrow.

Also equalled the record for most semi finals in a row by beating Blake. 10 and counting. :worship:

Davydenko won 11 games. Why isn't anyone writing it's the beginning of an end of Roger's domination?

They would have done but actually Davydenko only won 10 games so it's okay. :)

Federer played great in the first set but didn't have to hit those heights again to complete the win. Davy just wasn't on today. Maybe a little jaded after the five setter with Haas.

The third set looked like a practice session to me. Davydenko was barely putting up a fight, and so Roger got a bit bored as well. But anyway, a solid win I guess.

Congrats Maestro.... 4 slam finals in one season, yet another stat that separates him from most of the other legends from the last 30 years.

Good of Roger to not make fitness an issue. He has played a lot of best of 5 setters the last few days, but has only lost one set, so he shouldn't be too tired tomorrow. And he shouldnt even have lost that set.

I love when Fed wins in straights its boring..
any other player wins in straights its a great performance and great match :D

Davy was very sub-par today. There were some moments when Davy was playing well but the un forced errors is wat killed him, not to mention Fed's awesome court coverage

Stats look pretty good for Roger. 30-17 for winners-UE's. 65% first serves is okay. Good returning numbers and second serve winning percentage. Very good BP conversion rate. :)

Roger played an excellent 1st set. Some of his aggressive returns were amazing. 2nd set Davy upped his level and in the 3rd set Davy had a letdown and Roger got bored.

The end of that excellent rally in the 2nd was amazing even though Roger lost his serve.

I think Andy knew it before Federer's match

Eurosport is showing Youzhny's match again (I don't have to write which one, no?). Damn, he's got his chances

That forehand winner that he whooped out of no where in that long rally in the second set, serving at *3-2, when he got broken back, was just unbelievable.
I bet you Roddick and Youzhny were watching that and just praying they could at least have a decent smackdown, nothing too humiliating.
Doesn't Rog tie Lendl now with the 6 straight finals? or is it a new record?

I think 6 straight slam finals is a new record? Maybe I'm wrong.

Speaking of Lendl, it's pretty insane that he made 8 straight finals at the US Open.

Let's see who the other finalist is. Roger is the solid favorite. I think Roddick with his new confidence *could* keep it close but the head-to-head is just dominant for Federer. Hopefully he won't get killed if he makes the finals (even tho some of the a-holes around here would love that)

Federer's been shanking forehands all tournament long. He still has a healthy ratio of winners vs ue's but the forehand has produced the most errors I think.

Doesn't Rog tie Lendl now with the 6 straight finals? or is it a new record?Lendl never had six in a row: he had two sets of three in 86 and 87, separated by a semifinal result in the AO. In the Open Era, the record is currently at five, set by Roger at Wimbledon, but Don Budge won six in a row in the 30s, so at best Roger's tying the all-time final record. I don't know whether anyone surpassed six before 1968 (anyone?), though I doubt it.

Speaking of Lendl, it's pretty insane that he made 8 straight finals at the US OpenYep, and he also made 8 straight Masters Cup finals, or End of year championships as it was in the 80's.

Not much of a surprise there, Rogi makes mincemeat out of pretty much everyone he plays. It's scary because just as his opponent thinks that he might have actually solved how to beat Roger, Federer fools them completely with a whole new level of game.
