There's less shame in losing to Roger than there is in missing a huge opportunity against Youzhny. I'd rather him make the final personally.

Do you read English?.......Every thread I make htere is a point.
My point is
"I want Roddick to lose now than be embarrassed by Federer on Sunday."

What an awfully negative position to take - however he plays on Sunday you should still want him to get as far as he can if you're his fan - you can't be in fear of his opponents to the extent that you'd rather he lost early to avoid them.

I want Roddick to win today, because he at least can keep the score close and exciting against Fed, even if his actual chances of winning are tiny...

I'd rather see Andy lose to Fed in the final and still be a finalist rather than losing to Youzhny and bow out in the SF.

Just cause , do you have a thing against Sampras ?

Why is it that you have to declare Roger already the greatest of all time ?

It's like you are trying to emphasize Rogers greatness over everyone .

Maybe you need a reminder that Nadal has a 6-2 record over Federer and 2 of those wins were on hardcourt .

what about Youzhny winning the US Open?

certainly not a thread started by a fan
or someone who really even cares.

Roddick just gets the job done if he reaches the Final, it would be more embarrassing if he loses to someone other that Fed in the US open.

Plus, Roddick used to be embarrassed by Roger Federer, So, it is okay

If Roddick makes the final I'll be so happy for him after the bad year he's had!

I still think Roddick had a great US Open run, and I am sure Federer recognizes it. Had Federer been absent, he would have walked over to the crown like in 2003 (probably with more difficulty as people have improved but he has not evidently from his ranking). Federer is just too amazing.

It's funny that Sampras is considered a big thorn in Agassi' side, but he probably only cost him five slams in their entire career. Federer has already taken four slams that Iam sure had he not been there Roddick would have won.

I just found out that Martina Navratilova won Wimbledon from 83-87 and the US open 83, 84, 86, 87. Had she won the US open in 85 (lost in final to Mandlikova), that would have been 5 straight Wimbies and US titles.

Not nessacerily. Had Federer not been there you have to look at all the players he beat before making that decision. For example, in 2005 I would've backed Hewitt to beat Roddick in the final had they met.

To win Wimbledon and the US Open in the same year 3 years running as Federer has done is some achievement. Especially when you think of some of the great players of the last 25 years.

Women tennis is a joke. There's no comparison.

Navratilova's excellence is no joke. ;)

However, I agree that comparisons between the two tours aren't so telling when using raw numbers.

Well for sure. I mean Court, the all time women's slams leader, has 10 more slams than Sampras, the all time men's leader.

I'd like to see you take a game from her, she's turning 50 soon. What Navratilova, Graf and Seles were able to achieve ain't no joke, it's called history an you are a:
