He didn't though.
Congratulations Davydenko! Not everyone can hold on in there with a 2 set deficit.

Interesting match!!.
Poor Haas 's burnt out with all these consecutive five sets matches, his determination was very much respectful. Good run :hatoff:
Davydenko 's angles were just beautiful, but his mental instability in the last set was just beyond imagination  ...

thread take 2. action!

There's a serious problem in fitness of these players. First Baggy, then Gasquet, today it's Haas (not to mention Murray in Cincy). But congrats for Kolya, he did well today; respect for rallying from 0-2 to victory. Match was not quite interesting for me, except for the 5th set of course. Great fighting spirit from both players, that's for sure

I'm so proud of Nikolay! I was so disappointed after he lost the first two sets, and I thought he was totally out of it. But Nikolay showed why he's a top ten player... he fought hard even when he wasn't play well and came out on top.

I figured Davydenko would wear Haas down with their huge difference in time on court yesterday and I was right, but man Tommy was hitting shot for shot and blew those 2 BP with Kolya serving for the match for a SECOND TIME.

Kolya just cranked it up and hit his fastest serves of the match at the end there, but he didn't seem to keep his foot on the gas pedal at 5-2 in the fifth and allowed Haas back in it. He didn't play aggressively and move to net where he had much success all match, but the job is done and he will meet the Federer/Blake winner and that meeting could possibly top this match.

Congrats Nikolay! Another solid effort! When will people realize this guy doesn't get his ranking up from playing every match, but he plays well in the big matches!?!

I thought it was a great match, really high standard of play until Haas' body gave up in the fifth. Haas was superb for two sets then his level dropped and Davydenko had his chance.

Poor Haas just didn't have the strength to last 2 five set matches back to back. All credit to Davydenko he was much improved on the Murray match.

Great match, one of the best matches of the tournament. Haas was serving like a god in the first 2 sets, and was just playing great tennis all round.

Looked like he'd win in 3 but played a sloppy game to get broken in the 3rd and the match turned. Davydenko nicked the 4th, both looked absolutely shattered and it was a case of last man standing.

Davydenko breaks 1st game of the 5th and it looks over. Great effort from Haas to break back, but looks like he's got nothing left and Davydenko goes 5-2, double break up. Amazing effort to save match point and break from Haas, played a great game then took an injury time out. I loved how he was laughing and joking with the trainer at 5-3 down in the 5th set in the QF of the US Open

Comes back out, holds well. Has 15-40 to level it at 5-5 but shanks a 2nd serve return. Davydenko serves big, and closes the match.

As you can see, I enjoyed that, despite Davydenko's personality. You're in the SF of the US Open. How about a fucking smile? :retard:

You have to give respect to both men, but particularly Davydenko for never dropping his head and staying with Haas right until the end and serving it out that second time.

He may not be the most interesting player around but there's no doubting his talent for playing pressure tennis and getting the most out of his game - and giving a lot of players a lot of trouble. SF spot - earned.

I didn't think I'd be that interested in this match but it drew me in. Haas looked like a sure bet for the SF but great fight from Nikolay! :hatoff: He looked down and out but somehow hung in there. The fifth set was very exciting, Kolya managed to come up with great serves just in time to save his skin. :yeah:

The Russian players are in great form, but the Americans aren't doing badly either. Should be a fantastic tie! :D

I knew haas would do this to us, I wanted to see a good SF and I want someone with a real chance to beat him to play him in the SF, safin was that guy and he gets eliminated by Haas, Haas cant beat federer but he can give him a good match and then he goes out and loses to davydenko, thank you for the absolute bore of a match we will get friday, HAAS.

Davydenko, Haas - doesn't make a difference. Neither player would provide a close match on Saturday.

When Murray and Safin lost, we lost any hope of seeing Federer drop a set, or two, on Saturday.

Great two sets and a half sets of Tommy, but the Russian Machine wore Tommy down at the end and a few critical moments were enough to decide the match.

Well, I'm glad Tommy won his previous last two matches already, but it was still one hell of a chance missed by Tommy to reach the semifinal :o

After all, props to Davydenko :hatoff:
