What's The Story Behind Davidenko and Sponsorship?

He's been a top player for a while now. Even lesser players appear in Nike, Adidas, Reebok, etc. Is he refusing to be sponsored?

He's sponsored by prince, for everything.

Thanks guys! So US announcers were ignorant earlier at the Aussie Open when they told us he had no sponsor. You'd think they'd verify the info before taking it on the air. It turned out it was just a guess work like the rest of us.

I dont get it.....There is no logo on his clothes and he doenst wear the same clothes throughout the tournament. Are players who arent sponsored allowed o wear t shirts with nike/adidas/fila logos for example?

They could, but they won't give free advertising to companies who could be paying them. Same reason they never show logos in movies without getting cash for it.

I don't think he gets enought credit for his great tennis!

He does have a logo, just because it isn't bigger than regulation doesn't mean its not there. It's the the bottom righ-hand corner of his shirts.

When you get a chance, would you please find me an article about his sponsor? It's seems Prince is missing out on serious advertising here. Why not smack a huge logo on the shirt and get exposure when your man does well?

Davydenko currently does not have a clothing sponsor. He has a deal with Prince for racquets and shoes. Prince was providing him clothes earlier this year but is no longer in the clothes biz from what I hear. Raymond, Stubbs and Gambill, who all formerly wore Prince are looking for new deals as well.

Let me see what I can find out... because it looks like you're right. The grey and red shirt he's wearing is from a different brand its a C and like and upside down G. ButThe plain shirts he wears, black, red, and white, are still prince.

I think that C he had on his t-shirt is from Champion, which is sold @Target stores - seriously low rent, but quality generic athletic gear. (ie he bought it himself for not much buckos.) but that stuff's cheap - it's the racquet & shoes that add up.

It's not. I've seen the Champion logo and that's not it.
