Most Over Rated Tennis Player ??gervboy 09-07-2006, 04:53 PM Who do you think is the most over rated tennis player and why ? :) cmurray 09-07-2006, 04:58 PM I'm not sure if he's over-rated, but Donald Young has definitely not lived up to expectations. His game didn't translate at ALL from juniors to ATP. adee-gee 09-07-2006, 05:02 PM This is only about the 8296th time this has been done. George Bastl. gervboy 09-07-2006, 05:05 PM sorry, didnt realise lol !! new to this forum... adee-gee 09-07-2006, 05:17 PM No worries :) My serious answer is Ancic by the way ;) TMJordan 09-07-2006, 05:23 PM Who the fuck is that guy ranked number 3 in the world? Yah the bald guy...him. GugaRocksMySocks 09-07-2006, 05:36 PM Andy Murray Blazed 09-07-2006, 05:37 PM nm MurrayFan1 09-07-2006, 06:07 PM No worries :) My serious answer is Ancic by the way ;) Dextertje 09-07-2006, 06:11 PM Monfils MurrayFan1 09-07-2006, 06:20 PM Monfils Hell fucking yes. Or Ginepri. Black Adam 09-07-2006, 06:22 PM Who the fuck is that guy ranked number 3 in the world? Yah the bald guy...him. AKA Ljubibitch ;) Naranoc 09-07-2006, 06:25 PM I am pleasantly shocked, having fully expected this to be another 'Nadal is an ovverated claycourter' type thread. ;) For the record, I would say that though Andy Murray has potential, he is definitely overrated in the UK. In fact, the ONLY tennis news the stupid newspapers show is that featuring Andy Murray. It's always Murray this, Murray that, even if he's not playing. MurrayFan1 09-07-2006, 06:27 PM Yes, that's because barely any people care about it so that's why it gets poor coverage in the papers here. cmurray 09-07-2006, 06:28 PM AKA Ljubibitch ;) Who? El Legenda 09-07-2006, 07:00 PM murray... how do u lose 6-0 to davydenko...he has a WTA serve Jaap 09-07-2006, 09:11 PM Undoubtedly Ljubucic. Maxpowers 09-07-2006, 09:21 PM Donald Young. There are probably plenty of better Americans than him, but his parents and hype machine have touted him as the next sampras. Wannabeknowitall 09-07-2006, 11:13 PM Undoubtedly Ljubucic. He's actually made the semis of a slam as a top 5 player. James Blake is a top 5 player without that distinction who has had not even good results on clay or grass. He's quite overrated. Jimnik 09-07-2006, 11:19 PM He's actually made the semis of a slam as a top 5 player. James Blake is a top 5 player without that distinction who has had not even good results on clay or grass. He's quite overrated. I'm confident that Blake would make a Grand Slam semi-final if he had to play Benneteau in the quarter-final (instead of Federer). Balerion 09-07-2006, 11:25 PM Ljubicic doesn't get that much hype, so I don't see how he can be that overrated. I realize many think he's an unworthy #3, primarily because he's ugly and somewhat unpleasant, but there are plenty of guys with worse hype/performance ratios. How about Marat Safin and Mark Philippoussis? JMG 09-07-2006, 11:32 PM Tipsarevic is one of them. dekker 09-08-2006, 01:36 AM James Blake Wannabeknowitall 09-08-2006, 01:43 AM I'm confident that Blake would make a Grand Slam semi-final if he had to play Benneteau in the quarter-final (instead of Federer). Really??? So when James' draw opened up for two straight French Opens what happened then? So James can beat Benneteau at a slam on rebound ace, clay, or grass in a quarters even if he hasn't gone that far on either surface? Federer might have gotten an nice draw but he's earned it by being number one for almost 3 years. James doesn't have that privilege and likely never will. Action Jackson 09-08-2006, 02:36 AM Roger Federer JW10S 09-08-2006, 02:39 AM Roddick. He has won only one tournament this year and had to beat no top 10 players to do so yet suddenly he becomes a favorite to win the Open. ServeAlready81 09-08-2006, 02:54 AM  I don't think Donald Young is overrated, the only people that actually think he is good are himself, Nick B., and his parents :tape: selesfan 09-08-2006, 03:33 AM Monfils Tommy_Vercetti 09-08-2006, 03:40 AM Well in terms of media exaggeration of talent in the current scene, it's James Blake. In terms of the youth it's Donald Young. And all-time is most definently Arthur Ashe. You can draw what you want about the media and it's goal from that. Guybrush 09-08-2006, 08:41 AM Blake & Davydenko. http://www.monitor.hr/smilies/amen.gif pancit 09-08-2006, 09:00 AM And all-time is most definently Arthur Ashe. Oh really? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_Ashe oz_boz 09-08-2006, 10:10 AM Fed. However multidimensional, talented and dominating he might be, his achievements don't make him the greatest player of all time; still lots of fans, media and players keep calling him that. I think that because that they are from influential countries in terms of media etc. that they get hyped and het media coverage which helps their confidence and makes them better. They get wildcards, good coaches etc | |
