 This has to be the biggest shock of the day. This result ends a run of 7 consecutive Grand Slam finals for the Bryans. Forget Nadal's loss - the guy has never proven himself on a fast hardcourt.

What a day for Youzhny, and it begs the question: If he can beat the Bryans in front of the American croud, why can't he beat Roddick too?

Actually I was more impressed when he came back from 2 sets down at Davis Cup in France in front of a much more agressive French crowd!

It seems the crowd was on his side when he was playing Rafa so I don't know how against him the crowd will really be unless Roddck gets in trouble

This thread is about his victory over the Bryans, not over Nadal.

Yea and like I said, I think he won the crowd over against Nadal so I don't think the crowd was probably so against him when playing the Bryans.

That is a good thing, so there won`t be any more of the Bryans throwing their sweaty clothes into the stands, like anyone wants it. I keep wating for someone to throw it back but no one has had the heart yet...LOL

You really think Youzhny will get support from the croud against Roddick?

pretty special day for Youzhny. Knowing that nobody will have to endure the Byran brother's stupid chest is very reassuring.

It's funny because only a week or so ago i was looking at the rankings thinking how much better Youzhny can play than his ranking of 54. I hope he can now continue this form and move towards the top 10. I remember how he used to be so much more hyped than Davydenko so hopefully he's catching back up now. If Safin pulled out the win against Haas the Russian men would have had better results than the women  still might i guess considering Sharapova is hardly Russian.

Does this mean the Russian Davis Cup doubles team to play Bryan/Bryan will be Tursunov and Youzhny.

Certainly encouraging before the Davis Cup semi-final.

I agree that Russia is looking to be in great position for the DC semis. No doubt that Davydenko will start in first singles, and my bet is that Safin will get a shot at singles too. But Youzhny with Safin or Tursunov in doubles could be a great team to counter the US' most likely point with the Bryans.

Win both trophies, Misha! I just want to see you on my TV all the time.

Did USA Network show any of this doubles upset?

THAT MAN has been a menace for me...all in 1 night! Nadal and Bryans were holding up my Fantasy team! :hysteric: :fiery:

Youzhny's only hope is to neutralise the Roddick serve and force the American into baseline rallies. However, Youzhny has to be tired from playing 2 events deep into their respective draws, Roddick is serving very well and if he continues to cut rallies short with forages to the net...I can't see Youzhny having much of a chance.
