Fed vs. Blake

Alright here it is folks, the Post A-Train era begins for me. I've liked him since that 2001 US Open match against Hewitt. Blake is the next guy i root for. Tomorrow night, we'll see if Blake can go one further with no divided loyalties unlike last year.

Who will win?

It's still 3-love in the third against the 5-set specialist, let's hold on a bit

The first set will be tight, Roger will take it 7-6 or 7-5 and then roll over James in the next two sets, Roger is 3.

I don't know who i'll choose yet, but i know it won't end in 3 sets

Close first set and roger puts the beatdown on James in the next two sets Roger in straights.

Federer should win. Blake plays a style that Roger enjoys playing against. Roger mostly has problems against the brick walls.

To annoy viewers in the UK this will be the night match tommorrow.

Fed in 3 or 4 most likely.... Berdych was awful today. but maybe the J-Block will pull James through who knows.

Blake faced bp's on nearly every single service game, he'll be punished tomorrow.

Fed in 4, at the very most.

It'll be interesting to see if the Berdych beatdown inspires Blake or not.

It'll also be interesting to see if the J-Block has any negative effect on Roger. Highly doubtful, IMO. But it should make for an excellent high-energy match.

50% currently picking Blake... LOL! Do we really need a poll here?

Finally someone strong enough to silence that J-Block MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! these are even more annoying than what Lleyton's Aussie followers used to be...

If James gets ahead early, he can really make this tough for Roger. But if Roger gets the momentum, I definitely expect a straight sets win for Roger. I don't think the block will matter as there is a sizable portion of the crowd that routinely appreciates and roots for Roger vociferously

That was a beatdown from Blake. What happened to Birdman? Against Fed, Blake will have to rely exclusively on his game. The J-block will only irritate Fed and that won't be good for Blake.

I suspect Blake will be motivated enough to take a set. Fed in 4.

Blake wins one of the first two sets. Roger wins the other three.

A whole stadium didn't make a difference in last year's final.

There are only 2 people out of 17 currently who pick Blake (in 3 and in 4) -- so the 50% is long gone

It may have-- maybe he would have straight setted it without them, there's no telling what its effects were. But... I get your point :)

Federer is not scared with J-Block and will kick thier asses tommorow. :)

Partisan crowds DON'T intimidate Federer. I'd be shocked if he didn't win in straight sets

Just becaus he's currently a horrible 5 set player dosent mean he will be forever. If its time to break the 5 set curse, then I'll say Blake in 5.

We don't really know if they do. We have seen crowds which are in love with Federer's opponents and cheer more for them but since he has reached the top of tennis I can't recall a match where a crowd seemed to be actively against Federer. He seems to have earned too much respect for that to happen.

J Block could be crucial. If they are noisy and intimidating it could put Roger off his game.

Blake Finally Wins 5-setter On 10th Try Against World #1 Roger Federer! That's what Saturday's New York Times Will Read ;) :yeah:

(more realistically though...Fed in 4, maybe 5. Blake WAS up 4-1 on Fed in IW, then choked...maybe he'll play better this time)

IMO if J-Block gets really really loud, it's just going to fire up Roger, which isn't really a good thing if you are Blake, you don't want to give Roger any extra motivation to beat you. But with that said, I think with this form Blake can take at least a set. I say Roger in 4.

James has what it takes game wise to beat Federer (at least to really unsettle him). But like most of federer's opponents, he could just come out a nervous wreck and not play smart, tactically. Oh underestimating federer's shots.

he'll be federer's toughest opponent, but i'm sorry i'm not convinced he will deliver a surprise.

Apparently Blake was saying on ESPN he only has a tiny chance cos Roger is the best player in the world and almost impossible to beat.

Oh well at least his fans believe.

That defeatist attitude pisses me off.

The time to salute your opponent is AFTER the match, not BEFORE it.

Hey All,

Blake also said that Federer was only human - and that he felt if he played his best tennis - he had to believe that he could beat Fed, and that the pressure was off. Don't get it twisted.

James knows that when on Roger is liable to beat all takers. Yet - he also remembers how sweet it was at IW when he won four straight games. And played some sprayed shots and over hits at the most inopportune time. He shouldn't look to do that again. He should just play w/i himself, play the % shots - and try hard to get the returns in play - at least. Try to move the ball around and go for a winner when he gets the chance; whilst knowing that he shouldn't over hit or go for an outright winner.

I believe players should change up their strategies when playing a nemesis. Blake should just try to keep the ball in play and leave the thought :) of hitting a winner - alone. LOL!.

As Vince Lombardi - a yesteryear NFL football coach used to say - 'On any given Sunday." On any given day of a tennis match.
