Did anyone actually get to see the match? How is Marat playing? He didn't have many winners...not even many aces...

He just HAD to oaf in the first game of the last set. :spit:

poor Ollie though. I can just imagine what he feels when these big guys beat him. :(

he had enough, plus its hard to get it past Ollie without him getting something on it.

Marat played the best since before his knee injury.

That was very solid from Marat - with the exception of that tiny wobble at the start of the third he was in control throughout - and he reacted well to that and didn't go into meltdown.

Amazing what a bit of confidence from being on the RIGHT side of a tight result can do for your game.

:woohoo:

I saw all of the match, and despite a small concentration lapse in the beginning of the third (...as usual) he looked solid. Even when he got broken in the third he didn't start breaking down but kept his head screwed on straight. Not even a racket bounce. ;)

Go Marat!

Good thing the match was so short after that 5 setter agaisnt Fat Dave. All Safin needs to do is beat Haas, then either Murray or Davydenko (who Marat drubs on Hard Courts). Then a blockbuster semifinal vs. Federer. I dunno how many sandwiches i should bet on this one...

Great match from Marat, stayed concentrated (almost) throughout the entire match :yeah:

Olli didn't play his best today :( Don't know if his best would have been good enough, but it sure would have made the match tighter.

I was there today (I guess technically yesterday) right up in the front row screaming my ass off! :bounce: :bigclap:

Marat played very well. I was surprised and thankful he finished in 3. I actually was prepared for the 3rd set collapse but good thing he was able to hold on. The crowd was surely behind him. :)

Good luck against Haas, Marat!

Great when Marat controls his moods. If anyone can take out Roger and Rafa in consecutive rounds it is him. But chances are still very slim.
