Who will win the Battle of the tactical maestros? Blake or Berdych?

Action Jackson

This is a match between two five set maestros and tactical nous will be on show in this one.

Blake leads Berdych 1-0 in H2H in Washington last year.

Will Berdych follow up his good win over Tursunov, with a dud performance or come out and play as well as he can and can Blake stop his from going to 5 sets.

For those who don't know these are the 5 set records.

Blake is 0-9
Berdych is 9-0

Berdych in 3. I just feel a monumental Blake collapse. I know it's coming sooner or later, and I feel it will be catalyzed by Blake's frustration over being unable to break Berdych's serve.

I really hope Blake doesn't win his first 5 set match against Berdych and I hope Berdych does come through, the good thing in this match is that he will more than likely not be the favourite to win this match and I hope the press hype up Blake's chances.

The title  Tomas "Desert Fox" Berdych vs. James "5 set specialist" Blake. This is a tough match to predict. Tomas played like crap in their previous match at DC. James is not close to his best here, he came close to losing today and almost self-destructed against Monaco. A big unknown is also the effect of the crowd on Tomas, even though he didn't seem bothered from that last year against Agassi.

I would not be surprised if the match turns out to be another 5-set affair since both players are streaky. However, I will go for James in 4, hoping to be proven wrong.

In my opinion this is a 50-50 match so the best strategy is to bet on whoever is the underdog for the markets, but good luck with your play.

If you had the feeling he'd do something, you should have got on him.

Back to the match at hand. I see you are not a fan of the J-Block then? I wonder how many of them know Czech? They allegedly gave Rafa some stick in Spanish.

I have a bad feeling that Blake will win, though I want to be proven wrong.

Yeah I find it extremly hard to watch one of Blakes matches at the open because of the Block, Berdych's inconsisenty really worries me and I hate backing him, also I want Berdych because I beleive he is one of 3 players left that can beat Federer, and I dont want Roger to win the Open, those 3 players are Berdych, Nadal and Safin

So please Thomas, Beat James and shut up the J-Block!

As for who will win. The crowd will inspire Blake to go down in 5 sets.

Ability? Berdych is the typical ball basher. Mindlessly banging the ball is his forte.

From tennis-x:

James Blake faces Tomas Berdych in a match-up between the player who holds the Open Era record for the greatest number of five-set victories with no defeats, and the man who shares the worst five-set record in the Open Era (Berdych 9-0 in five-setters, but Blake 0-9). Berdych is 0-5 career against Top 10 players at Slams.

Will be interesting to see who throws off their monkey first. I hope it's Blake. But if he wants to keep beating players in 3- and 4- sets that's fine with me too. :p
