Was it me or did the crowd deliberately put Moya off in his last service game some girl/woman was screaming just before every Moya shot in the last point.

If so ......

Careless Moya strikes again.

Mind you, that obscene cheering squad had something to do with it, there's a viciousness to their shouting that goes beyond mere enthusiastic support. I honestly want someone to shut them up, and beating Blake would only be the means to that end.

The Berdman, a contrast of endurance levels if not styles judging by their respective 5-set records.

Eh, not a surprise. It's sad, but these days Moya is what he is, which is a solid player that can't really do much damage vs. a top 10 player.

Too bad, though. I can't stand Blake's game. Hopefully Berdych takes care of him.

I would like Blake to win but it will be Berdych in 5.

Charly. :awww: At least you made the J-Block happy. :o They seemed to be sharing about three I.Q. points between them throughout the whole match.

P.S. And what the hell was that one girl in the crowd doing, squealing on purpose every time Moya hit the ball when he was break point down on his last service game? Talk about crass gamesmanship.Whats crass? Did you mean class???? Hhmmmmmmmmm?????

That's a great win for James, didn't think he'd go very far at all this open. Lets see what the block can buy him in the next match

Me as well.

My husband and I call the J-Block the "Tool Box." I think it fits, frankly- I find them to be annoying asshats. I would like to see how Tomas reacts to the Connecticut Keg Stand Association (the J-Block). I would just like for someone to lose it against them some day and tell them to shut the hell up. I think he could be a good candidate.

Sorry for the venom, they just remind me of those types of boorish fratboys and their hangers-on that you can run across. Or worse yet, those types of jerks at college basketball games who yell chants akin to when ASU students yelled "PLO" to Steve Kerr.

It is a shame because I like James, but I loathe some of his friends.

I have a problem with the J-block too. I was at his 1st round match and the whole crowd was cheering for him, but in a very pleasant and polite way... then there were five or six guys "in J-block" who were just embarassing to listen to. Everyone around me felt the same way.

Good win, James! Despite being in bad form, you're winning some matches. He beat Berdych in their last match, but I guess it depends which Berdych shows up and which Blake. Could be a good match!

2) good looks

3) is American

I really do think, as a number of folks in here have stated, that some people aren't reacting negatively to James but rather to the J-Block. And that has nothing to to with his looks or nationality.

I don't like the JBlock. And I don't like Blake because he is a ball-basher and mentally weighing in as a 60lb 10-year-old girl.

But I don't hate him. I don't specifically set out to root against him on most occasions, unless he's playing a player I like.

It's interesting to compare it to the oft-mentioned crowd behaviour during Agassi's matches, in which virtually everyone in the cheap seats acted like idiots for a couple of points during the match - booing Becker's dropshots today, for example. To me that's actually far more preferential to a small group of people barracking incessantly after almost every point.

Yeah, the Agassi thing is just Agassi fans going insane. JBlock are hired hoes.

I feel the same way. I like Blake's shotmaking, but his mentality kills it for me. I can't make my self like mental midgets. I feel the same way about Lindsay Davenport. Her shot making and groundstrokes are orgasmic. But the way she crumbles mentally for no apparent reason makes me cringe.

Yup. There shouldn't have even been a fourth set. Blake seemed not to know what to do once he broke Moya to go up 5-4 in the second. Even in the tiebreak, he first went down 5-1, before Moya gagged to give it away. I've noticed a pattern with Blake: He often seems afraid to take control of a match. The contest with Berdych should be interesting.

Blake continues to squeek through playing terrible tennis thanks to the support of his fanatical fans.

And a lot of people here say they have a problem with the J Block... but not with Blake? The J Block is terrible... and what causes that to lower my opinion of Blake is that he provides them with tickets. Doing this, and doing nothing to stop their outrageous behavior makes him partly responsible for it. So yeah, it also makes me dislike him a great deal.

If it were not an American that these complete morons were supporting, they would have been banned from the tournament long ago. Their actions are totally unacceptable. In baseball, maybe... but in tennis? The crowd is supposed to be silent during points, and between serves, and it's about time that the US Open people enforce that.

That said, I hope Tomas blows him off the court and rids us of the J Block. Unfortunately, I think his mentality is rather susceptable to heckling... but it could just make him angry and play better. Hopefully that will be the case. I can't really stand the thought of Tomas losing to the J Block.

I'm somewhat surprised they haven't taken to throwing chairs and stuff yet.

Anyway, if Tomas can't manage to do it, certainly Federer will save us from this nonsense in the quarterfinals.

Carlos :sobbing:
He really had a good chance to take this match to at least five sets.

Sometimes losing and winning is so close together. Four minutes before Blake broke Moya's service game, Moya had his own chances to break Blake and did not take them.

The result is a clear 6-3 and the match is over.

But it was a good battle for most of the time and I was happy to see that Carlos was in some good form again and that he did move, serve well and that his forehand was quite good and powerful.

Congrats to Blake and good luck for the next round! :yeah:

I wonder what would have happened if the match had gone to a fifth set?

J-Block is behaving too raucous to be so close to the court. It was fine when they were in the nosebleed section, but now, it is not appropriate.
