What is wrong with this guy!! I would love to know how many times he's gone down 6-0 in a match, it just seems so common for him!

Bagels can sometimes be a blessing in disguise in a 5-set match.
It looks like Gaudio has figured out his game.

So. . .Gaudio is playing for spain now? When did that happen?

Match is knotted at 2 sets each... But the two he lost were at 0-6 and 1-6... Ummmmm...

Also, yeah, apparentely McEnroe or someone there previously included Gaudio into the count of Spanish players still remaining... and then noticed he made a mistake, laughed, and said, "I am sure Gaudio is very excited that he's been traded to Spain," or something like that

Stupid McEnroe, why would he like to be Spanish?

Well, he said it sarcastically... Just joking about the network's earlier mistake. He didn't actually mean that Gaudio should/would be happy to be playing for Spain.

Follow a scoreboard for over three hours, finally get coverage of the match in the final set tiebreak, and watch Gaudio lose the last six points from 3-1 up. Pure joy.

I wonder what happened in the 6-0 and 6-1 sets. :o

Fucking tie-breaks!

That wasn't what decided it, he was having a harder time holding in the final set anyway. I think the slip at 3-3 finally convinced him it wasn't worth trying for the remainder of the tiebreak.

Marc Gicquel in the 4th round of a slam event. Sounds strange.

I don't know about the bagel, though I can imagine, but I do know Gaudio had a couple of chances to break at 1-1 in the fourth and surprise surprise, after he doesn't take them he doesn't win another game in that set.

Giant-killer Gicquel marches on.

Gaudio - what a fucking basket-case he is.

And that white bandanna - no-no-no.

Baghdatis and Gonzo can pull that look off, Gaston, you cannot. It makes you look like a total penis. Take it off at once.

Don't you love that stylish goatee, though? Actually, he had that for a couple of his matches at RG in 2004, the QF against Hewitt for sure, and it worked wonders back then. :p

I haven't seen the first set but the first five games of the fourth were very intense with lots of rallies and winners. Can't remember exactly, but there were some amazing points in the 2-1 game. The fifth set was pretty attractive, Gicquel managing to break but then choking a bit when el gato was about to crack up. The french had some BP in the 4-4 game, very well-played by Gaudio. I am a bit surprised Marco won in the end because he didn't seem to have the situation under control, running and sliding (!) as Gaston was raising his level.

All in all, quite a good match which could have been played on clay.

5th set tiebreakers what a great way to decide tennis matches at Grand Slams.

Anyway congrats to Gicquel for making the 4th round and at 29 as well makes it better and as for Gaudio, he did better than last year and continues his record of not winning 5 setters away from Roland Garros.

Gaston, missing the opportunity to eat a couple of bagels vs Fed (but still not going without one;) ) sigh, would have been a good match..or atleast a chance to get the hc hack winner on tv.

is it just me or do we find 27+ not-even classed as journeymen Frenchmen turning up in every slam and causing a shock or two.

Don't forget about the women. Bremond at Wimby and Razzano at this tourney. Not quite as old but still...

Beating Gaudio these days isn't so special, is it? Even more so if it is on hardcourt and in a fifth set.

But it was a good fight apparently and Gicquel did well so far this year to produce some good results.
