Why does Andy fail at changing ball direction?

I've been watching Andy for the past months, and even when he IS in good court positioning (a rare occasion, but regardless) he still goes crosscourt. Why doesn't Andy think out there and pull a ball up the line every now and then? Does he not think or is he afraid of the risk?

Today he's being a whiny baby so he's capable of anything stupid today.

I dunno, it just amazes me...

A down the line shot is so much more effective (as Verdasco knows as he's hitting winners dtl against Andy) for throwing your opponent off balance. Yet, Andy doesn't even try hitting his strongest shot, the forehand, down the line. What's up Is he stupid? :p

He just lost the first set 7-6...

I loved Andy's reaction after losing the first set. He threw his hands up and then thrashed them down while jerking his head awkwardly. He looked like a 4 year old who just got his coloring book taken away.

It'll be interesting how Roddick handles this match the rest of the way. He's been playing well the past month because of his newfound confidence, but newfound confidence is fragile... So let's see.

 He's serving in the 40's but it doesn't seem to be helping.

I think its one of the holes in his game that other players have learned to exploit. He's so predictable and can't change; he just ends up looking scared on court.
