What do you think? Any info on this player? Carlita 09-01-2006, 08:12 PM I agree :yeah: I will post some pics I took this year in Amersfoort :) I like Ruben :D p.s. I edited the title ;) Emilie85 09-01-2006, 09:24 PM Thank you Carlita! :) http://www.newhavenindependent.org/archives/2006/08/gol.php takuma 09-01-2006, 11:23 PM Thank you for this article Emilie. I love such stuff! No dirty gossips-just some news from outside players protennis life...Besides, it's high time for Rubio to have his own thread. Good tennis&football player in one: "Number five, he's good!" remarked Rodriguez, watching Ramirez Hidalgo play. The Blake-beater took the spotlight several times with mid-air kicks and fast breaks to the goal. :yeah: Carlita 09-02-2006, 09:14 AM Amersfoort 2006 :) This guy needs to think about getting sleeveless shirts  He always makes me laugh with his one sleeve tucked away  Carlita 09-02-2006, 09:17 AM #2 Ferrero Forever 09-02-2006, 09:47 AM About time somebody made a thread devoted to Ruben. Emilie85 09-02-2006, 02:34 PM Thanks for the pics!! :) They are great! :worship: Why does he always have one sleeve tucked away? Carlita 09-02-2006, 03:00 PM Thanks for the pics!! :) They are great! :worship: Why does he always have one sleeve tucked away?:lol: I have NO idea  It looks funny though  takuma 09-02-2006, 08:29 PM I only know Diadora had once shirts made with irregular sleeves..as I was told it was meant to make serving easier...but when I look at Ruben I think he does it more to make himself more distinctive..some kind of a "trade mark"..It's just an idea, but if it's so then I think I like it ;) Emilie85 09-03-2006, 01:18 AM I found a video on youtube! :) Ruben vs Nicolas Massu - semifinal Amersfoort 22/7/06 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cePWHaVGycc Carlita 09-03-2006, 09:43 AM thanks :) Eléa 09-11-2006, 03:09 PM I'm late! :o but i just noticed this thread  I really like Ruben and i'm happy to finally find something about him, i just hope it's not to late  I have tons of pics of him from RG and Gstaad and finally i could have a pic with him... He had lost his double match but he was still lovely with me, he even told me some words in french :) (maybe he speaks french? i started in english so i don't know...) takuma 09-11-2006, 08:03 PM Hi Eléa!And you certainly are not too late! This thread wasn't very lively, but maybe it'll change..we need more good performances by Rubio&more mtfrs to comment on that! The more-the merrier...;) I just love him playing doublesI had the chance to watch him with Vassallo Arguello vs Marcos Daniel/Garcia-Lopez this year..It was brilliant, had such a great time!Maybe you could post some of the pix /or put a link to it? PS:I can't stop wondering what were those french words he told you..Hmm  Btw: He defeated Victor Ionita today 6-4 6-4 in Bucharest...Well done and good luck for the next match! Eléa 09-11-2006, 08:21 PM Of course i will post my pics but i have troubles with my web hoster so you will have to wait a little bit :o About the words in french it was only like : "hello", "is the pic ok?", "do you want to take the pic again?" "thank you" and "good bye" But it was sweet  Congrats to Ruben for his victory today :) takuma 09-12-2006, 07:16 PM I can wait for goodies even a long time ;)..though of course I hope you'll sort out those host problems soon! Too bad he and VasArg lost their dubs, but had tough opponents so it wasn't that unexpected..Tomorrow he faces Petit Rochus.Should defeat him, especially as Chrissy is not in best shape now. This year he competed in Roland Garros, but lost in the first round. Anyways, I think it's far the worst draw Rubén could get. The rest of the players are no big names or out-of-form players (maybe except of Crugnola, this week's Vigo finalist). Filo V. 04-25-2010, 11:51 PM Ruben has been doing very well this year. He has a challenger win, a final, a semifinal, and qualified and made the second round of the Santiago ATP event. His ranking tomorrow will be between 110-120, and he has little to defend these next weeks, so the top 100 should be a reality for him if he continues on a good path. Florent Serra FRA [1] vs. Edouard Roger-Vasselin FRA Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo ESP vs. Daniel Munoz-De La Nava ESP Reda El Amrani MAR [WC] vs. Dominik Hrbaty SVK Ilija Bozoljac SRB vs. Frederico Gil POR [7] That is his section of the draw for Tunis. Filo V. 05-08-2010, 09:49 PM Ruben lost to Munoz-De La Nava in R1 of Tunis 4-6 1-6. His ranking is currently 119. He took a week off for rest and this upcoming week is in Zagreb, Croatia. Here is the main draw: http://www.atpworldtour.com/posting/2010/588/mds.pdf He plays Prakash Amritraj in R1 which should be an easy win and then Rosol or a Q in R2 which should also be an easy win. He has a good draw, hopefully he can do some damage next week and get closer to the top 100. Good luck Ruben! briefly 03-26-2011, 10:25 PM Pics of RRH from Miami: http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/5170/20110324kg.th.jpg (http://img850.imageshack.us/i/20110324kg.jpg/) http://img641.imageshack.us/img641/6484/20110324kj.th.jpg (http://img641.imageshack.us/i/20110324kj.jpg/) http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/6124/20110324kk.th.jpg (http://img405.imageshack.us/i/20110324kk.jpg/) http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/7485/20110324kw.th.jpg (http://img199.imageshack.us/i/20110324kw.jpg/) http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/5317/20110324mg.th.jpg (http://img827.imageshack.us/i/20110324mg.jpg/) http://img847.imageshack.us/img847/8307/20110324mk.th.jpg (http://img847.imageshack.us/i/20110324mk.jpg/) http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/7607/20110324my.th.jpg (http://img39.imageshack.us/i/20110324my.jpg/) Tulipe 04-04-2011, 06:49 PM Briefly, thanks a lot for the photos! This week it's Casablanca for Rubén. 1st rnd in singles against Rui Machado (POR) 1st rnd in doubles: RRH/Marrero bt. Montanes/Montanes-Roca 6-1, 6-4 Tulipe 04-05-2011, 04:39 PM Won 6-1, 7-5 against Machado. Next round against Potito Starace (ITA), Rubén leads the head-to-head 4-1, last time they met in Vina del Mar in 2005 and Rubén won in straight sets. Stats of the match below. Filo V. 05-08-2011, 12:55 AM Well, Ruben's results haven't been getting much better. He's playing a challenger in Zagreb, Croatia next week, and plays a WC in R1. He has a great draw, he needs to take advantage and go deep. Filo V. 05-15-2011, 11:10 PM Ruben lost in R1 of singles again, but did win the doubles title in Zagreb with Daniel Munoz De La Nava. His doubles results have been much better than his singles this season. Hopefully his doubles success will start translating in singles and it helps him gain confidence. Tulipe 05-21-2011, 02:16 PM Roland Garros, Paris: 1st rnd against Marin Cilic (CRO) Could have been a better draw, but as this is a Grand Slam, can't expect cupcakes... Let's hope for a decent result. Tulipe 05-22-2011, 12:21 PM Amazing result  http://www.rolandgarros.com/images/pics/large/b_0522_RamirezHidalgo01.jpg (Photo by FFT) Tulipe 01-21-2012, 09:15 AM Found this on YouTube recently: bNGGgcebMAU Filo V. 03-07-2012, 01:51 PM Ruben qualified at both Vina Del Mar and Sao Paulo to start his season, but unfortunately got injured last week in Florianopolis challenger and is out the next few weeks. He should be back for some challengers in the attempt to make the French MD direct. He defends 39 points until the French cutoff; not a huge amount. He's about 1-2 big results away from the top 100 again. Hopefully he recovers from this latest injury and performs well in his upcoming events to make the top 100 again. He defends little until the 2nd half of the season so he has every opportunity to rise up the ranks. Filo V. 03-27-2012, 09:24 PM Ruben is playing this week in Baranquilla, Colombia, vs a qualifier in R1. He has a great opportunity there to go deep in the draw and pick up a lot of points to help him reach the top 100 by the time the French Open cutoff is released. He will be playing several South American challengers these next weeks so hopefully he has big performances in all of them and regains a top 100 spot. GL in Colombia, Ruben! Filo V. 03-30-2012, 04:51 AM Ruben defeated the qualifier Stadler 6-2 6-4 in the first round but lost in R2 to Alund 3-6 2-6. His service numbers were very poor in both matches, so hopefully he turns that around as he gains his rhythm back from not having played matches in a while. He is in the doubles SF with Zeballos as the #1 seeds and they will be playing Monroe/Sykut for a place in the finals. Hopefully he wins the doubles and it gives him confidence in singles in future events. Filo V. 03-31-2012, 02:29 AM Ruben and Zeballos lost 8-10 in the final set tiebreaker in the doubles final in Barranquilla to Monroe/Sykut. So his tournament in Colombia is over. Next stop: San Luis Potosi. Filo V. 04-01-2012, 02:02 AM Ruben plays a qualifier in the first round of San Luis Potosi. It's a very winnable tournament so hopefully Ruben can get the job done and take the title! Filo V. 04-04-2012, 02:40 AM Ruben defeated the qualifier Echazu 6-1 6-0. He plays another qualifier, Andrej Martin, as the fourth match on the center court Wednesday. Great opportunity for another quick victory for Ruben, and hopefully he takes advantage. Filo V. 04-05-2012, 01:58 AM 6-2 3-6 6-2 victory over Martin in the second round. He played his best at the start and end of the match, hopefully he uses the positive momentum from the end and transfers that to his QF match. Ruben plays Clezar tomorrow in the QF. Hopefully he can make it through to his first SF of the season! Filo V. 04-06-2012, 01:41 AM Ruben won 6-2 4-6 6-1 over Clezar. He played better than he did in his last match, which is what is most important. He plays Velotti in the SF. Velotti is coming off a nearly three hour match so Ruben should be able to take advantage and win. Hopefully he can grab a spot in the finals! Filo V. 04-06-2012, 02:24 AM Ruben is also in the doubles SF with Decoud defeating Borvanov/Zivkovic 6-3 4-6 10-6 in R2. They play Monroe/Stadler for a spot in the finals. GL to Ruben and Sebastian, double titles in Mexico would be awesome! Filo V. 04-08-2012, 04:21 AM Ruben won the singles title in San Luis Potosi!! In the SF he defeated Velotti 6-2 5-7 6-4 in over 3 hours. He was up 6-2 5-2, so he really should have won easier. But he found a way to hang in mentally and win the match, outlasting the Argentine who was cramping at the end. In the finals, Ruben defeated Lorenzi 3-6 6-3 6-4 in 2 hours and 42 minutes to take the title! He played his best tennis of the week after falling behind 1-5 in the first set. Such an amazing performance from Ruben with over 8 hours spent on court the past three days of competition! After he won he put the racquet and his hat to the ground, looked up to the skies and put his hands to his head in relief :) He fought so hard for this title and really saved his best for last. With this title, Ruben will be ranked #106 in the provisional rankings on Monday. He's getting close to sealing his participation at the French Open and with a couple of wins this upcoming week in the Pereira challenger in Colombia, it would be secure. Who would have thought when he was losing challenger R1s this time last year that Ruben would have a career resurgence once again? He's a fighter and has earned everything he's done in tennis throughout the years :yeah: Filo V. 04-08-2012, 04:25 AM In the doubles, Ruben lost with Decoud 4-6 2-6 Friday in the SF against Monroe/Stadler. All in all, it was an amazing week for him, at 34 years old and still continuing to win at this level is inspiring. Next week in Pereira he plays his doubles partner in Mexico and friend Decoud in R1. He has great chances for at least a QF and hopefully he can manage this, as he is a couple wins away from essentially sealing a place in the French Open MD. GL to Ruben in Colombia, hopefully he rides this hot streak into Pereira! Filo V. 04-08-2012, 12:01 PM http://www.planodeportivo.com/deportesnuevo/imagenes/07042012/singles00.JPG Filo V. 04-12-2012, 02:43 AM Ruben is into the QF of Pereira, having defeated Decoud and Beretta in comfortable straight set wins. With these wins Ruben's ranking is up to #104, so he should without any doubt make the French Open direct entry! Ruben plays Farah in the QF of Pereira. Will be a tough match playing a Colombian in their home-country event but hopefully Ruben can extend his 7 match winning streak to 8! Tulipe 04-17-2012, 10:38 PM Who would have thought when he was losing challenger R1s this time last year that Ruben would have a career resurgence once again?
