Agreed. But speaking of, is there a worse tennis tournament for a fan to attend than a late round of the women's event in New Haven? It seems like just about every year a player either flat pulls out or retires mid-match in either a semi or a final for fear that they may jeopardize their health status for the Open.

Montreal was hurt pretty bad too. New Haven mens tourney pretty much sucked too b/c the 2 stars both lost pretty early. I feel like tourneys the week before a slam are rarely good.

Good luck to Waske, Becker, Greul and Phau for Monday.
I hope Alex will serve great against Baghdatis and stays focused and uses
his chances.
Benjamin Becker has all the chances in the world to win Volandri. Italian don´t
have anything special and if Becker plays like in qualifyings it should be GSM Becker.
I hope Greul don´t let Fish to dominate and play his game. I think Greul is much
better on groundstrokes. Greul should keep Fish moving and keep his behind the baseline.
Phau just try to hope that Morrison won´t play as good as in qualifying because
other wise it will be 1R exit for Bjorn. It is time for Bjorn to be aggressive and
really bad be willing to really win that f* match!!! No more madame Phau!

I live about 20 minutes from Flushing. Right now it's not raining but extremely overcast. I would expect play to be delayed regardless because we've had 3 days of rain and the courts must be drenched.

crappiest of all the slam tournaments.

personally for me, this is by far and away the best tournament of the year....i am lucky that i get boxes and attend many matches over the course of numerous days but even if i didn't i would love it....the atmosphere in some of the evening matches are second to none, you have tennis going till midnight or past often....you have about 15 courts in play where you can roam the grounds instead of like 6 matches going on in like 3 or 4 main courts in other tournaments....i love new york!!

lol taz, US Open has by far the worst organisation according to the players. The town and tournament is way to "americanized" for me. Sure you have a great athmosphere but only when Americans are playing. The courts are also too loud. This is tennis not American Sports.

But let me tell you, i've lived 6 month in Rosenheim, near munich, and I lived 3 month in Berlin .

And believe me , one of my passion is to travel, and i've done more or less the whole world so I can compare it to many countries.. ;)

as many american think they are in everything... Out of the interests of this thread, please don't say anything like this. Ever. It's ignorant, childish, and above all, lame.

Also US weather doesn't "suck". It's been raining for 4 days, and all of a sudden it "sucks"? The US is so unique in its climate, which is SO DIFFERENT all over the country. So maybe what you meant was that throughout the ENTIRE country there's been rain somewhere in the United States over the past 10 days...but that is in no way indicative of the weather somewhere else. For example, when hurricanes are raging the southern coasts, we'll often not get so much as a drizzle of rain. It snows someplaces for more than half the year, where elsewhere hell will freeze over before it ever snows there.

True, but Young has never even looked close to beating someone at this level.

Come on Donald! :)

The young boy is quite too arrogant for my taste but he has had his share of slaps and I wouldn't mind him win this.

I hope Young loses, I'm surprised he's been able to get up a break already.

Fish had to save a break point in his first service game. He'd better win!

I'm seriously pissed off. There are two great men's matches ongoing (Djokovic-Young and Youzhny-Hrbaty) and I'm stuck watching Henin-Hardenne on TV!!! Geez, I even prefer watching Fish-Greul than a women's tennis match where JHH will steamroll through the 1st round.
