Mens tennis players with skin disorders should come out.

I guess for guys and gals without a skin disorder they don't understand why we want to know which male tennis pros have one. Non-skin disorderality is splashed in my face every single day of my life. When I turn on the TV, read a newspaper, look at a billboard, go to the mall seeing non-disordereds holding hands in public or kissing. It's everywhere. And so is skin disorderophobia. If we are to progess as a society the acneatics can't fight this battle alone. Its time for skin disordered men to take a stand. The acneatics have done so much in sports.

I don't think skin disordered men on the ATP tour have to hold a press conference or do what Jessica Simpson did and go and do an acne commercial. However, I do believe they shouldn't be hiding their skin disorders either. You see having no skin disorder is not a source of shame. It's easy for non-disordereds to make jokes and say "oh having psoriasis is no big deal." Or "why do people want to talk about skin lesions?" Those comments are examples of skin disorderophobia. Having a skin disorder has a lot more to do with life than having itchy skin. It means living your life freely and openly disordered and not having to worry about judgement and being proud of who you are. I think it's so important for disordered male athletes to come out. It shatters stereotypes. We know that in a population a certain number of men have a skin disorder. That's just science and it's a fact.

Yet the silence that is the skin disorderophobia in the ATP tour means just that. It's the silence that speaks volumes. Even though tennis is an individual sport all those disordered men on the ATP are hiding. I am not sure why.
No one is going to harm them physically.

You see non-disordereds make jokes about this issue because it doesn't matter to them. Non-disorderism is everywhere. It's marketed to us, it's broadcast everyday. It's everywhere.

Skin disorder pride!!! :rocker2:

Brian, you're my hero. It's very brave to come out like this. If only everyone else would be more sensitive and understanding, those who have skin disorders wouldn't feel so repressed :(

I'm sure Justine Herpes-Hardenne is an inspiration to "maggots" everywhere!

Now if only her husband would come out, too!

I am confused. Isn't a skin disorder very visible? If someone has one, we will see it, I can't think of many atp tennis players who have a lot of acne.

A lot of them are in the closet ... or they have "beards" to cover up their secret.

Hey, now the Dentally Challenged are left out. That is discrimination. And, going by the evidence, it's a severely anti-British stand. God Save The Queen. :rocker2:

Oh, so it is kept on the down-lo. I understand, or they could wear make-up to hide their skin disorders.

People with bad teeth are evil. God HATES them. They are going to burn in hell forever. I don't care if you have bad teeth, but don't go around flaunting it in my face! It's disgusting and abnormal. People with bad teeth are GIV+ (gingivitis), and they are spreading it to everyone, especially innocent children. And they shove gerbils into their mouths!

Go back in the closet, snaggle-tooth!

Thank you for your support Daze. Genital warts though? I hope you are getting that treated. No gay male tennis players want that. ;)

..Ok then,to show some sensitivity:there ARE pro players with skin problems. It's nt that visible on tv, better to take a closer look while you see them in person on a tournament..Especially when indoors events are on..and beautiful tan on proplayers faces is fading[tanned skin looks healthier even if is not acne free]..If you want names, then Gaudio would be the one I saw with skin disorders..He has a very sensitive skin that gets easily irritated. But when it's sunkissed it looks perfectly healthy, so..he doesn't really "fit in the profile" I'm affraid ;) You mean men only? How abt WTA?Cause there it's easier to [nomen-omen] spot...(Sharapova-the whole body in serious acne, Safina had bad skin moments too and so on..)

 (but not too close. I have my own skin issues and don't need more!)
I have a sometimes oily T-zone, and the skin around my nostrils is quite dry  There is help at hand though, as my doctor has prescribed some good drugs. Tennis players should not be ashamed, they are in top physical condition...noone will mind a skin imperfection :awww:

A lot of players have moles that really should be removed.
