First round loss in Toronto

:silly: will win this match! for sure! :p

roger's going to be so distracted by his shirt, that's the whole trick!

What the hell is up with his luck?!? Is it all gone?!? :smash:

I wonder what his rank will be next week :tape:

Anyway, he likes to play big matches. It's an early round and Roger might not be at his best yet... It's time for :silly: and the "shirt" to step their games up!!

:o I guess... but I think he enjoys it and plays pretty well in such matches.
That's enough for me really

And it's "exactly" one year ago. He might decide to pull an upset again!

Poor Paulo  He played well today... I wish he could just read Roger's serve better! If only he could keep up this level of play, he should win more matches -- wonder why he can't

At least he got rid of the orange rag, but I guess it wasn't enough against world no.1 !!

Poor thing... I don't want to think about his ranking next week :tape:

silverwhite
08-09-2006, 02:03 AM
He's out of the Top 50 :help:

Maybe he should have worn the orange rag. Might have disrupted Federer's serve. :spit:

Anyway, I don't know why he was standing as far in as he was when returning. :cuckoo: He also couldn't read a lot of those aces and big first serves were going down the tee. :silly:

*julie*
08-09-2006, 02:07 AM
He will be around #57/#58 actually.

Stupid draw

Ome
08-09-2006, 02:19 AM
:silly: did the same thing against Roddick when returning serve. Staying back and trying to come forward, meet the ball early --- but he couldn't time it. He should have known that Roger has the brain while Roddick hasn't had one esp when it comes to the serving department. I don't like the tactic he used. He wasted a rare chance when he was up 30-0 on Roger serve, he just couldn't do anything with it. That's frustrated...

I've noticed the crowd seemed to like him though. Heard a lot of "Come on, Paulo" today which is great.

One thing I like today is the fact that he came in with great deal of determination. Sadly, this determination only comes in big matches.

Off Topic: :secret: I skipped 2 classes to watch Paulo lost today!

JBdV

It really was just an unlucky draw, but I now hope he gets a slightly better one for Cincy, though it's bound to be tough when unseeded in a TMS event ...Hope he can win a few matches there though.
I would really love to see the determined and super-motivated Paulo I saw at RG again during the US Open! Allez Paulo! The hardcourt season still has a long way to go :bounce:

Ome

And one more thing I have to complain...

Paulo challenged the call in the first game, second set but the umpire just said that it was UNAVAILABLE?! :smash:

I know it wouldn't change the outcome of the match even if that challenge worked his favor, but it's just so unfair!!! What an unlucky man :silly: has become  Like drawing Federer wasn't enough! :(

I would love to see the RG's Paulo too! He was amazingly confident (actually thought that he was going to win RG if he had beaten Nadal! ) That attitude brings out the best in him. Strangly enough, I only sensed this type of attitude in him when he played in front of the crowds that rooting for him. Simply just a lack of motivation problem... And doesn't he knows that not everyone "loves" him like we do?!? :aplot: He needs to care about 'us' a little bit more! :ras:
