Hmm, I have absolutley no idea what ESPN is showing tonight, the guys at the AO have decided to have play begin at 3:00, or 11 eastern time. therefore, we wont see a live Mens Semifinal this year at all. Federer vs Fererro will be shown at 2 tomorrow  Maybe they will actually show a womens doubles match.??? I dunno, maybe it will be a highlights show, shocasing hte best shots, matches, quotes, etc.. I pray to God that they dont replay a match that has already been contested. Well. i guess we'll see

ESPN2 was supped to show women's doubles tonight at 11pm EST. But they are instead showing an encore presentation of Safin versus Agassi.

It is ridiculous that we don't see a live men's Australian Open semifinal match. :( Part of the problem is Tennis Australia playing their men's semifinal matches at night in Melbourne. That is absolutely appalling! And the ITF shouldn't Tennis Australia get away with it.

they can't really help it, actually... they have their times scheduled and it didn't match up with when they scheduled the men's match... it's a pity actually.

so we get highlights

The problem is that the match will be on at like 2am EST.

ESPN did this before for the Sampras-Agassi match a few years ago. It started at 3am... and I'm guessing it didn't work out so well.

So, Australian Open should change the time for SF matches so that the Americans can watch the matches live at the hour Americans love. Would USO changes the time for SF matches so that the Austrailians can watch the matches live at the hour Australians love?

Same for Wimbleton and Roland Garros?

USA does not OWN this world. Please don't act like George W Bush.

What does ESPN show at 3am when the night session starts ???
my guess Nothing.
I'm sure that alot of tennis fans will stay up to watch whenever its played.

if you cant show tennis LIVE as its happening, thats pretty pathetic.
doesnt matter if its at 2am, 6pm or whenever.

there is nothing like live SPORT.

lucky we in Europe dont get pathetic TV coverage.

Lee, don't be a smartass. ;) I don't want to take over the tennis world. And I have just as many problems with the USTA as I do Tennis Australia. My point is that Tennis Australia somehow gets to play the men's semifnals on different days and at night. But not the women's semifinals. Are the men special or something? The other grand slams play their men's and women's grand slam matches on the same day. And the Austrlaian Open plays their women's semfinal matches on the same day. But not the men. I wonder why. ;) Oh I get it. Tennis Australia wants to sell tickets to 2 days worth of men's semifinals and not 1. That's a good money move. But why didn't the other 3 grand slams think of this first?

As for the time of these matches I've followed every Australian Open on ESPN for many years. I like the Australian Open alot. :D But I don't like a couple things about it. Especially that horrible injury causing Rebound Ace surface. I'm used to the matches being televised at unusual hours. And grand slam semifinals weren't meant to be played at night. Why doesn't Tennis Australia play the women's semifinals at night, too? That would draw better television ratings in Australia. But I suppse Tennis Australia is subtly telling everyone that the men are more important than the women and that's why they play night time semifinal matches.

My original point in this thread was that I would like to see the men's semifinals televised live on ESPN or ESPN2.

MRS, I would try to stay up for a live men's semifinal involving a favorite of mine. But if I couldn't stay up for it I would tape it.

Then you have a very interesting way to express your point.

And I'm sure you don't have the ability to takeover the tennis world.
