Can Todd Martin beat Marat Safin

He looked unbreakable against Karlovic. Also Safin had some problems I heard.

Martin is a dangerous opponent.

It seems to me that if Marat is playing well, he should beat Martin. But Martin is the kind of guy who can bring victory from defeat.

I have so much respect and admiration for Todd. He's a great guy. So, I'm rooting for him against Marat.

Martin can definitely win, but I think Safin will be able to pull through if he keeps his mental/physical consistency. Even if he doesn't play to his best, playing well will be enough to get Marat into the 4th round.

Yes, Todd can win. He doesn't have the inate physical talents of Marat, but he is one of the smartest players out there.

This is a tough choice for me because I like both players, and I am wishing Marat well in his comeback --- but I will be cheering for old Todd on this one.

the simple answer WAS that Karlovic holds serve too easy and cannot break for the life in him.
thats why Todd beat him, cos in a tiebreak his brains were too much for Ivo's game.

well its a bit late now but Marat played bad and won in 5. (only got going in sets 4/5).

It was close but somebody pulled through in the end ;)

&it had nothing to do with consistency, :lol:
