Which Grasscourt Gimp will win the most matches at Wimbledon?

Action Jackson

Since we had one for the claycourt clowns at Roland Garros, it is fair to have a thread for the grasscourt gimps and to which one of these will win the most matches at Wimbledon.

Tursunov was the winner of the Roland Garros for the clowns.

Since I only had 10 options there were some unlucky players to miss out like Horna, Hrbaty, Chela, Wawrinka.

But there are some quality grasscourt gimps here. Gaudio is only here so he can get some cash and then go to Germany to watch Argentina play in the World Cup

Fed cruised past Mathieu 2,4 and 4 in the first round last year as far as I can remember. Not a total thrashing but not a close match either.

Grass gimp most likely to watch the world cup and forget to turn up for the tennis match: Gaudio

Grass gimp most likely to be beaten by Bilbo’s grandmother in the first round: Beto Martin

Grass gimp most likely to end up needing a psychiatrist after one grass court match: Pashanski

Grass gimp most likely to be slapped by Gimelstob’s wife: Almagro

Grass gimp most likely to play Oscar Hernandez in the Wimbledon final: Mathieu

Grass gimp most likely to try to “clay slide” on grass and end up going head first into the strawberry & cream cart: Ferrer

Grass gimp most likely to assume grass court tennis means it is time to smoke weed: Calleri

Grass gimp most likely to smash the world record of unforced errors on grass: Davydenko

Grass gimp most likely to compete with dementieva for the slowest serve award: Volandri

All others will obviously lose to lucky loser bye

The reign of Oscar Hernandez starts in 2007.

Hrbaty, Massu, Berlocq are some others unlucky to make the list.

Depending on their draws, many of these guys could expect to win one or two matches. I think one of them will make the 4th round.

Ultimately anyone who serves well can be a threat on grass. Most players now play from the baseline, so these players won't be facing net-rushers and the chip n' charge tactic.

Gaudio will have bigger problems than most of the others on the surface, but that's ultimately because he couldn't give a flying F.

Movement on grass is very different from indoor surfaces and ball bounce is usually more reliable on indoor surfaces.

Berlocq vs Bloomfield: Berlocq won't win

Srich vs Calleri : Plenty of brainless hitting in this one, but the Srich should get the result there:

Almagro vs Ancic: Superstar trying to hit his massive kick claycourt serve could be very funny and not get the kick on it.

Becker vs Chela: Chela could win his first 5 setter.

Bracciali vs Hrbaty: Lot of posing by Bracciali who can play on the surface Hrbaty can't.

Mathieu vs The Poo : Anything could happen, some of the balls might end up at the Wembley complex and if the Poo wins, then he is back to his best allegedly.

Ferrer vs Stadler : See the Froggy Ferrer slide on grass will be fun.

Horna vs Gonzalez : Horna will be lucky to make returns in the court

Massu vs Murray: Massu will waste time, delay, take a time out, toilet break and get Murray to cramp.

Martin vs Di Mauro : Battle of the champions.

Falla vs Davydenko : The flair of Falla will overcome the PMK.

Gaudio vs Faurel: This one will go 5 sets and if Gaston wins he playing Labadze is a crowd puller.

Pashanski vs Agassi : Agassi won't lose this

Ok, we have our first “results” of the tournament  after Tuesday matches

Mathieu, Almagro and Pashanski all lost in the first round. On the other hand Calleri broke the code of honour of the grass court gimps (“thou shalt be a grass court gimp till the end of thy natural life”) by advancing to the second round after a good win against Srichaphan (who lost his serve somewhere before stepping on court  )

Of the players that George wanted to add to the poll but couldn’t because of a technicallity :p we saw Horna, Hrbaty and Chela lose in the first round. But Wawrinka became a grass court king after his win against Ivo “king of clay” Karlovic :p
