Though Navarro Pastor is spanish is a serve&volleyer guy with a good serve therefore he can be dangerous on a fast court.

You're starting to sound like me. ;)

Yup. The scoreline is nothing to be proud of. He can forget about defending his title...

it's not grave to have a bad match if you won the whole thing at the end....ask Federer last week

i don t think you are a pessimistic guy at all.......it's just a way for you to not be too disappointed if Richard misperforms. :)

Good match for Ivan. :yeah:

Gasquet played quite well last week so it wouldn't surprise me if he upped his game. Then again, it wouldn't surprise me if he totally blows in the next match either. I hope not.

On paper, Navarro was dangerous because of his serve-volley, and he could have won the match. He led by a break in the first set but an average of 2 df per game lost it and cost him the set. He still df a lot in the rest of the match but some excellent volleying and retrieving kept him in the hunt...a Gasquet lapse from a break up in the 3rd set almost bit him on the ass. Great match! :yeah:

Yeah it was...both played well although Gasquet should have won it sooner. When a volleyer and a decent all-round player play well, the match-up is a pleasure to watch. One of the matches of the tournament so far :yeah:

Iván Navarro is one of the best volleyers on the tour and he also has a very good first serve, looks like he´s not Spanish if you see him playing. It was not a surprise at all he pushed Gasquet that hard, so don´t be harsh towards Richard, silverwhite ;)

Well, according to Jez (Henman Ljubo) who watched the match live, he had lapses in concentration and should have won the match more easily so, yes, he deserves to be criticised.

I was certainly aware of Navarro-Pastor's threat today and he serve-volleyed well. However, he got broken at the start of the 3rd set and Gasquet handed it back with a very poor service game, so the match should have ended 6/3 really.

N-P kept the match tight but he never looked like actually winning it...

Obviously, he´s several classes below Gasquet, but he´s good at doing what he knows and if he has a good percentage of first serves you gotta beat the guy, he won´t gift you much on own serve

I saw it live too and was worried for Richie at times, he would play one point good then three or so poor points

But he won thats all that counts :D
