Something else to consider, in '03 as a 17 year old he beat Mario Ancic who year before that beat Roger who year before that beat Pete. This is why Rafa winning Wimbledon is not only not far fetched but quiet forseeable.

Oh, ok. I love Rafa but, my friend, these stats mean fuck all.

i think he has a point. how can we judge nadal's grass performance just based on first few grass tournaments?

Well, you can't. People on this forum are too quick to say Rafa will win it all soon (Rafatards) or that he'll never win it (Fedtards). The fact is, we don't know yet. In ten years we can judge how he was on grass, not today.

nice thread
should this mean that Rafa has a good chance to win at Wimbledon
I was very impressed with both his matches at Queens
I expect him to imprpve a lot in the next few years

True, but at the age of 19, Federer beat 4 time defending champion and greatest player ever on grass Sampras in one of the great grasscourt matches of the last 10 years.

The fact of the matter is that the grasscourts do not play like they once did and there are only a few players who can really play on the stuff. Like on any other surface, you will have to consistently hit Nadal off of the court if you want to beat him. You will of course get more chances because your shots will be more penetrating, but I think Nadal will also learn to flatten out his shots some and put more on the serve.

The biggest thing is that he wants to do well and that always helps.

This is irrelevant, the point is Nadal is yet to reach semifinals of a grass court event, there is a long way to think that he will "definetly" will win Wimbledon. But sure he has a lot of room to improve on the surface, still i really doubt he will reach a Wimbledon final, this surface neutralizes his style completly.

Completely? How did he win two matches this week then?

And if he hadn't pulled his shoulder he would have won three.

This thread does have a point. People say that Nadal will never be successful on grass, because of his style of game. Well, he hasn't been that successful so far, but he's young, and his game will mature on grass. Borg managed it, and he had a similar game to Nadal's, I think in time Nadal will feel quite comfortable playing on grass courts also.

This just in... after everyone on the board found out you're a total loser, your opinion has little weight.
