Tursunov over Henman (2.24, Betfair)
I think Tursunov is overpriced here. He should be the same odds on Henman at worst. It is just Henman hype! The h2h is 3-0 and I have seen all those matches, each time Tursunov overpowering Henman. Henman has not convinced me so far at Queen's and I have seen all of his matches. He was very unconvincing against Mahut, and a better player will punish him ie Tursunov, who has been solid, if not spectacular.

Hewitt over Nadal (1.70, Betfair)
Overpriced again. Verdasco should probably have beaten Nadal, who was on the ropes for a lot of the match. Hewitt was a match for Nadal on clay, no contest here in my opinion. Clear win for Hewitt. Nadal is not bad on grass, but Hewitt is top 5 I reckon.

You haven't been convinced by Tim this week? You must be hard to please. But I agree that Henman's game is a good match for Tursunov

im not sure if they all play tomorrow or not but I have vliegen as the last piece of a parlay from matches on thursday.

Also took Berdych x Haas x Blake @ 4.5

Cant see any of them losing but then I didnt see Ljubi losing to Monf today so anything can happen

I would think Monfils has a chance to beat Blake today. The Frenchman has been very solid in his first three matches, winning his serves with minimum effort and outplaying his opponents in the long rallies. Blake has to either serve extremely well today, which he hasn't been doing for some time now, or to return very well for two sets, which is also a high task for him. In other words, I reckon 60% or more of the long rallies would go to Monfils, so James has to win points quickly putting pressure on Gael either with his serve or his return. Judging on his current form, he shouldn't be able to do that consistently for more than one set.

Going with all 12 favourites for a very small amount.

Haas x Blake x Roodick x Hewitt x Henman x Bartoli x Likhovtseva x Zvonareva x Berdych x Federer x Vliegen x Sharapova

Other bets also..

I can't go against Rafa no matter what and @2.1 looks good in my eyes, the same goes for Dima. I still remember, how much I lost last year on Henman's friday-Queens-performance!Also James is playable!

Bartoli is value over Tu in my eyes, Tu has been lucky to get thus far, and I can't remember the last time she won 3 matches in a row in a WTA tournament , and I follow WTA for 4-5 years now.
Bartoli is not exactly trustworthy but she's still a class above and the odds are pretty juicy.

I agree with you Jez, Henman did look good this week but that's no guarantee that he's going to take out Tursunov. BTW, do you remember what were the circumstances when he lost to Tursunov last year in Wimbledon ? Was his back acting on him or something ?

Bartoli managed to lose this, I think she played really aweful to lose in straight sets to Meilen Tu, a player that rarely makes it through the qualifying rounds, and almost never gets past R1 in any WTA tournament.

Any other player in this tournament would have beaten her.. I'm going to back whoever she's playing with next round , heavily.

I don't think there was anything actually wronf with him. His form was quite poor...but Tursunov was not quite the same player as he is now. Also, Wimbledon plays slower than Queen's and the ball sits up a little more I think.

Two parlays for me today:

Hewitt x Soderling
Tursunov x Roddick

Hewitt should be the better grass player. He hasn't been at his best yet and really wants to play a lot of matches before Wimbledon to get his form going. Nadal wants some rest now and needed two tiebreakers against an injured Verdasco. Soderling lost in a very close match to Federer last year at Halle. If you can take Federer to three sets in Halle, you should be able to beat Tommy in two ;) .

I was really impressed by Tursunov last year at Wimbledon and i saw two of his matches this week and he played some good stuff. Roddick should have no problem seeing of Gonzalez. Maybe a tiebreak but his serve is too good on grass for Gonzo.

I'm stayin away from Nadal/Hewitt because I htink Nadal could surprise a few people.

Berdych (won) x Henman (good start!) for me.

England were lucky yesterday, hopefully Henman will have some of that luck too.

...but didn't hit

Will be interesting to see if my instincts are right,,,hopefully they aren't! :scared:

Tim Henman, if he loses this match, is an absolute moron, don't care what anyone says. If at 31 years of age he cannot serve out a 1set and 3-1/4-2 situation on grass when he claims to be playing well, then what chance does he have at wimbledon even if Federer, Ancic, Roddick and half a dozen more top players withdraw? I am seething.

i2ooney
06-16-2006, 02:49 PM
Henman wins, but he didn't impress me with his weak play at certain times in the match. Although I predicted Tursunov's attitude would mean Henman would win, I did not foresee Henman almost give the second set away and having to rely on poor play from Tursunov to wrap it up. Henman against Nadal/Hewitt is an almost certain loss for Tim.

Yeah he didn't play well but a win is a win.

Besides, Tursunov is an infuriating player to play...you can't get into a rhythm. Henman's poor record against him may also have played on his mind.

Funny Friday indeed...

Tursunov's performance was incredible :haha:
Roddick brings some other player's bag onto court - not his own :retard: :haha:
Half of Queen's QF matches end in retirements
Federer saves 5mp to beat Rochus

Maybe Andy's game was hidden in that bag, vintage Roddick ownage today.

Poor Ollie, he just couldn't put Fed away and that was probably the best chance he's getting anytime soon.

I thought my bookie would return the stake on Nadal because it was an in-running bet. Not the case.

I hope that some big punters made lots and lots of money on Hewitt once it became apparent Nadal was going to take a rest, because I feel angry at my bookie's stance. You'd think withdrawal rules would be different for in-running bets.

If you bet on the opponent of a player who is about to be retire you could be making easy money with Ladbrokes! ****s
