Just taking a break from current and wanted to ask a question to those who watched this match.

I see Costa won the first 2 sets 6-0 6-1, and was wondering what was going on with Ferrero? Was he carrying an injury because initially i thought that but then he won the 3rd set

Ferrero was one of the best claycourters than, was simply wondering how he got bagelled and breadstick in a final, having not watched this match

Was Costa playing out of his mind?

No injury at all, he just was taken to school by Albert

One of the things i didn't appreciate with JCF is that he brought this match up after he won the semis against Costa a year later, claiming that "this time i didn't have an elbow problem" or something like that. It was quite untimely to say the least, especially since Costa was coming into that semifinal after some 5-set battles.

Albert was always a unbelievably good clay courter in his career and deserved that title, during the week he beat Gasquet, Davydenko, Kuerten, Canas and Corretja.. and was too good for mosquito in the final.

Actually, Ferrero had injured his ankle earlier in the tournament and had taken 40 cortisone shots throughout the tournament.

JC was injured but it wasn't the problem. The problem was mental.

Costa had actually beaten JCF just a few weeks earlier.

Regardless, that final was like watching a bloody train wreck. Costa was damn good. JCF shouldn't have bothered showing up for the first two sets, and mentally he most certainly didn't.
