Mens QuarterFinals not live WED on ESPN?

Looks like no live coverage for people in the US of the Mens QF's. ESPN starts coverage at 8 am ET while Nadal and Djokovic match starts at 6 ET followed by Ljubicic and Benneteau. The only thing i could see is if they showed Ivans match live because it should start around the time they got on and then show Nadals match afterwards on tape, but since this is ESPN i highly doubt they will do anything that makes sense.

First of all, Nadal's match wont start at 6, it'll start a couple minutes later, it never starts on time. Next, I HIGHLY doubt that the Nadal-DJ match will last only 2 hours. with the ass picking, ball-bouncing, and court-cleaning, 2 hrs maybe for 2 sets. So we'll see some of that match. I agree with you that ESPN wont do anything that makes sense. That is their trademark :yeah:

That's a tradition. Second Wednesday, they always show it delayed. Reasons are unknown..

I'll have to resist the urge to check the sb. I can do it. Sure I can.

I think the plan........however , is to show Ljubicic's match live and then Nadal's match taped. They expect Nadal to steamroll Djokovic in 2 hours.

That's ridiculous. They won't even start playing until 1/4 after the hour. Nadal/Nole should take longer than that.

I guess I will get up early and stare at the sb.

No, they've already stressed that Nadal is up first. I don't think they would start with Ivan live because it would give away that Nadal's match is already over. And hopefully it won't be over after 2 hours anyway.

This works better for me, perhaps. I can't get up for 6 am. I'll just try to pretend it's live and not check the scoreboard... if I can resist.

Yeah I honestly think they'll start with Nadal on tape in entirety, then Ivan on tape in entirety. And I can just wake up later, so I don't mind. But it is dumb and unfortunate for those who really want to see it live.

After the Nalbandian match was over, I think Chris Fowler said that they will have coverage of the Ljubicic match first.

The TV graphic looked like this:

Novak Djokovic v. Rafael Nadal
Julien Benneteau v. Ivan Ljubicic
8am ET/4amPT

And then Fowler said, "Ljubicic followed by Nole/Nadal."

You can avoid the sb if you want to, Scott. Demonstrate some will power.
Do it.

I would be shocked if the nadal/nole match didn't go beyond two hours. It could happen if one of them retired due to injury but I doubt it. ESPN may just show the taped Nadal/Nole match over the live Ivan/Julian match.

ESPN mentioned numerous times they are showing Ivan/Julian first and if the Nadal match does go over 2 hours which most likely will then i dont think they will show the end, they will probably show something from today then show Ivan match live then the whole Nadal-Novak match on tape afterwards.

This is the stupidest thing ever. It is a ridiculous idea, but the even sadder thing is ESPN will probably do that. What if the match last for 3+ hrs. like all of Rafa's matches? Couldnt they just start coverage at 6? Damn, ESPN's coverage is such a joke :banghead:

When I went to set up the recorder for tomorrow I checked both ESPN and ESPN Deportes. I noticed that Deportes was starting 2 hours earlier and didn't know why. I thought that maybe a doubles match was first, but then saw the order of play. Its crazy that one will be live and the other delayed but its not the first time that Deportes has had more and better coverage. I'm lucky I get both. Today I was able to see all of the Nalbandian match since they always follow the S. American players.

I just had a premonition of myself waiting to see when the Ljubicic match starts and analyzing the time Nadal/Nole spent on court, like one of the crappy cable-news channels does when a jury announces it's reached a decision. Is it a good thing, or a bad thing that they took 2hr 42 mins to reach a decision?

Silly.. They don't know what Davis Cup is.. They know only Grand Slams , because that's about the only thing in tennis that is given a massive airtime.. so they have to watch some instead of their favourite stupid sports..
