Welcome to Our Strange and Wonderful World - the Chat Thread for David's Chicas

Ok - well as no one else has started this yet - guess I might as well! Didn't have a clue what to call it - but we change the title of Gastón's Chat Thread about once a month - so we can change this as often as you want. Please feel free to give some suggestions of what we should call it!

Anyway - this is our Chat Thread - where we can talk about anything and everything that comes into our minds  instead of ending up filling all the tournament news and result threads with our idle chat!!!

With people like myself and Linda around (sorry Linda  ) - I'm sure this could easily become the "how do I become a tennis coach masseuse/groupie thread?" - but we will try hard to be good  So here we can chat about our lives, our jobs, our men, our pets, our favourite TV programmes/books/movies/music, other tennis players, the World Cup, the weather, arrange to meet up at tournaments - or whatever we feel like really - and try and get to know each other better. And I promise I will keep my impure thoughts about David's coach to myself :o

Btw Birte - I guess you will be going to Bastad? Or is that a silly question?

:yeah: I think the title is great Rosie.

 I guess I'm allowed to fancy both David and Javi, as the former is 3 years younger than me and the latter about 11 older. :tape:

I need some opinions. My vLove went to the trouble of sending me petite red roses from a florist to my hotel in Paris but he didn't ring nor come up (he lives 20 minutes SE by train). I couldn't go to his town as I don't have his address and my French is pretty miserable. :o He's nearly a year younger than me and we started to get to know each other here on MTF at the end of October. :help:

Great that we now have a thread to freely throw all our thoughts and ideas into cyberspace! I promise I'll try to keep it decent but I don't always have control over what I type. Strange forces take over sometimes. :cuckoo:

Isa, sounds like a lovely person, your vLove. Sending you roses. How sad tho that you didn't get to meet up.

It's terrible, I have absolutely nothing to do at work today

Isa, i have no good advice for you, but i would have appreciated the roses  maybe he's very shy and didn't dare come to you...?

Have nice day everyone :)

This is not a stupid question...But yes, I will be going to Båstad and I look so much forward to it :bounce: :bounce: I was so glad when I saw the entry list and discovered that both Tommy and David will also play :) I was quite sure about Tommy, because he has played in Båstad the last 7 years or so, but David was quite surprising to me! And then I am of course very happy that Guille will come, but I know you will not like that too much...

I am happy for you that you will see your GG, Feli and Ruben :)
For me, the Båstad entry list is one of the best ever, only Fer and Gaston won´t play, but as they will play Kitzbühel I will see them only 2 weeks later :)
Btw, Eléa I have read somewhere that you are also planning to go to Kitz???

Isa :wavey: Can I have a vLove too? My real-life love never even sends me roses.............well not unless he feels REALLY guilty about something  And I think Eléa is right - maye he is just shy and didn't know what to say to you :o so roses were a nice first move. Give him more time I think, but he sounds like a nice, caring guy.

As for tournament plans - well I agree that Bastad has a great line up this year - and I've heard so many good things about it and never been - so now seemed like a good time. But never fear Eléa - I am almost certainly going to Amersfoort the week after Bastad, and Gastón will be playing there, so I will see him (and Franco!) there!!! So - next question is - Sjoukje - are you going to Amersfoort as well as Rosmalen? Rosmalen - GRASS  :bolt:

Oh and alisia - please don't work too hard and make me feel guilty! And as for the "Da Vinci Code" - I actually read the book and really enjoyed it - but I haven't seen the film yet - I think I'm afraid it won't live up to the book's standards especially as I've heard some bad reviews of it.

Finally - nice to see this thread has got moving well :)

I hate it when my boyfriend talks sensible. He pointed out to me at lunchtime that we cannot go to Bastad & Indian Wells in March next year because someone i.e myself has not got enough holidays left!! So I will not be going to Bastad. However on the plus side by going to Indian Wells we only have airfare & spending money to find because my aunt lives in Palm Springs which is about 2 miles away from the tennis gardens. I just hope David stays in the tourniment longer next year than he did this year.

 I'm in the same boat as you Eléa. I've pretty much been bored senseless at my work for nearly a year now. Seriously, if my manager wasn't here I'd turn on the TV in the conference room and watch the tennis.

In my experience of work - being bored is so much worse than being busy - at least when you're busy the time goes by quickly. Lots of people said I would be "bored" at home now on my Summer sabbatical - but what rubbish - I've never been busier in my life than I am these days - gardening, decorating, housework, watching tennis, trying to get regular exercise, reading, shopping, visiting friends, chatting to you good people...............the time flies! Pity I will ever have to get another job  but I guess I'll have to eventually.

As for boyfriends being sensible alisia - men are NEVER sensible!!!!!

Madrid is beautiful - never been to Palma de Mallorca - and have to admit I really don't like Barcelona as a city :o Must say when I've been away and I get out at the Eurostar terminal in Waterloo, there is something so amazing about Westminster and Big Ben sitting there opposite me - kind of gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling :) Having said that - my really favourite cities are all the Northern ones - Stockholm, Helsinki, Moscow and St. Petersburg are just :inlove: for me.

I've had an awful day why does everything always go wrong when you are on your own? The company I work for has just started a new multi million pound contract & we are working for idiots.
I'm glad Kim won she is one of the few womens players I can watch. Henin & Hingis to me always look like they are sucking lemons! Mario should have let Tommy win I think he would have put up a better fit against Federer. Sad you had such a bad day  As for football - sadly I think there is some on - there always is  especially this close to the World Cup. Probably Wales Under 21 against The Faroe Islands Under 21 or something equally thrilling  Eurosport seem to show everything they can

You girls are amazing! I was so busy this morning I didn't have time to check up on this chat-thread and now you are already 4 pages into it. I love it. :yeah:

Yesterday evening I was in the garden throwing tennis-balls (TENNIS-balls therefor tennis related news and suitable for MTF ;) ) with my doggie when a cute little kitten came running towards me. Some bastard must have kicked her/him out of his car because there are no houses close to my house. So I took her in, she's lovely. Only problem, I don't want another cat. Two cats is more than enough for me and my cats didn't take to kitty very well. So I've been calling everybody I could think of this morning to see whether somebody wants a little cat. Nobody as of yet. My husband would ask around at his work but I haven't heard from him yet so I guess I'm stuck with kitty. If any of you girls want a little kitten, you are welcome to come pick her up in Costa Rica. Maybe you could make a little holiday out of it.

See Rose, I can talk about other cuddly things than just coaches and players.

My real-life love never even sends me roses.............well not unless he feels REALLY guilty about something  And I think Eléa is right - maye he is just shy and didn't know what to say to you :o so roses were a nice first move. Give him more time I think, but he sounds like a nice, caring guy.

We got into a bit of a row yesterday because I called him from a friend's mobile whilst at RG (he didn't answer) and I had a friend text him a few days later and he didn't respond to that either.

Honestly I'm not sure why I'm bothering except I don't have a real-life love. :o

Kittens :inlove: I would love her - but I already have 4 and a half cats (the half lives across the road but visits often - especially when I serve tuna :haha: ) and I don't have room for any more  And here to prove it is a rather dark and fuzzy pic of all four of mine that I took last night, with the ginger visitor at the back. And I'm sure your cats will take to the little one in time - in my experience there is always lots of hissing and spitting for the first day or so when you introduce a new one - but then they all settle down and live in harmony! As for people dumping kittens - bastards  I hate people who do that. Btw - from left to right - my boys are Wilby, Frodo, Caspar ad Sasha with Bouncer from across the road at the back! I decided to keep my photo of five cuddly tennis coaches eating in my house for another occasion :p

As for the holiday in Costa Rica - I'll bear it in mind :) An ex-boyfriend of mine used to go there all the time because he was very much into surfing and I understand the conditions are good there - but I have never been.

And Isa - I've changed my mind..............if you've argued with your vLove before you've even met - DUMP him he's not worth it

Rosie, you're catfamily is so cute. Despite this and the loveliness of my visitor, I really don't want another cat. Don't really know what to do. In Costa Rica shelters only take in kittens if you also bring the mother to be sterilized. Since I don't have mommy, if I don't find somebody to take her in, I'm stuck with her.

That's too bad Linda - I used to volunteer at a no-kill animal shelter when I was in high school. They never turned away any abandoned pet. There were about 50 dogs and more than 400 cats. I desperately wanted to adopt a black cat called Graham (all animals in the shelter were named) who had allergies but my parents wouldn't let me.

I've had my calico Serenity for about 2 years now. She used to belong to one of my co-workers but she got a divorce and decided pets were not part of her new single lifestyle. Of course now she's moved in with a boyfriend who has 2 dogs and had a baby.

Shelters here are very difficult about what they take in. I found three puppies last year and I couldn't find a shelter that wanted to take them in. Basically they accused me of trying to get rid of my own puppies. So I ended up getting so p***ed off with somebody at the shelter, who got so frightened of me they took them in. :shout:

I haven't found anybody for Messi yet (yep it's named now). I've gotten a few maybes so hopefully tomorrow somebody will give him a home. Although it's very tempting, I REALLY don't want another cat.

:wavey: morning! ooooooooooooh does anyone know how to stop a headache and this burning feeling in my eyes? My medicine doesn't work :awww: oh no.. maybe I MUST wear my reading glasses..... which I never do anyway.... so why would my eyes start playing up all of a sudden?!

Messi...that's a cute name!!! Aaawwwww I would be tempted to keep Messi...eventhough Im more a dogperson myself. I really hate it when people want pets and then neglect or dump them! :smash: Sometimes people forget to think......

Oooh my Rafael is looking a mess.... :awww: If you would see him for the first time, you might think I don't take care of him, don't groom him.....neglect his fur..... but I DO take care of him. Some would say I spoil him too much!!! And I groom him 2-3 times a week eventhough he hates it and gets all stressed.... but i had to cut his fur....so I hope it grows back soon!!!

Also it's about time he goes outside again.....if the nighttemperature goes up just a little bit more. He was inside because of renovations...and i've so gotten used to having him in the house :awww: i want to keep him there now!

I wear my glasses virtually all the time. My left eye is perfect, but 3 years ago I had a weird virus and an abscess developed behind my right eye. I just woke up one day and I couldn't see a thing out of my right eye  and I was terrified! I had an emergency operation and now I only have 40% vision in my right eye and I have to "protect" it all the time because of the scarring on it from the operation. My glasses are so dark for protection that most people think they're sunglasses, and as I have to wear them even on the dullest days it also means that people probably think I'm a right poseur :p - so that's why I'm touchy about eyes. The only time I don't wear my glasses is sometimes in the evenings if I'm sitting down somewhere very dark and dismal - but if you ever run into me in a dimly-lit bar remember that if I'm not wearing my glasses I can't see anything on the right hand side of me!

As for Rafa - he's winning - don't worry  Poor Novak  Sorry - you know I don't like Nadal!!

Hello, it's morning here but good-afternoon to you ladies on the other side of the ocean. :wavey:

Seems all David fans have an eye problem. Does that mean he maybe doesn't look so yummy? Can't be. :) I have one positive and one negative eye which sometimes gives me the same sensation as Sjoukje describes. With glasses or contacts I can see fine, but changes in depth are very difficult. That's also why sometimes tennis can be a little hard. When the light intensity is very high or very low.

I may have found somebody for Messi, which makes me very happy because he was getting hissed at a lot, so fingers crossed.

Have to go now to tennispractise, trainer is healthy again, let's see whether I'll survive.

Ciao.

I can honestly say I don't like any of the semi-finalists but out of the bunch I hope Rafa wins if only to p**s Federer of even more & the commentators. My boyfriend has this little ritual when Federer is playing of giving the commentators marks out of 10 for ass kissing, see I live with a strange boy, his other fav is counting how many times Federer gets mentioned when someone else is playing. During the World Team Cup - which Federer wasn't even playing in - I thought he was going to burst something when they were going on about how graceful Federer moves on a clay court compared to Karlovic!! Needless to say I have the mute button on quite alot or the interactive option which has no commentary.

Well - he's not that strange - because I tend to do a similar thing with how often our commentators mention Wimbledon (or "Wumbledon" as Frew MacMillan calls it!) throughout the year :p I like Roger though - he IS a great player and a really nice guy - and I think it would be such a great achievement for him to win the Grand Slam one day soon and he needs the French for that!

BTW Rosie, David was fist pumping and shouting Vamos a lot at RG during the two matches I saw. And there are pictures of him wearing capris, but never on court.
Ah - but David's got a gorgeous coach and Rafa only has Uncle Toni :haha:

Hi Eléa :wavey: It is really hot here in the South of England and I don't so much like the heat - so my plan is to stay indoors, turn all the fans on and do absolutely nothing! I hope to watch some good tennis on TV but we have thunderstorms forecast (my biggest fear and phobia  ) in which case I won't even be able to watch the TV  Hope you have a good weekend anyway :)

We have that breeze here too - but it's still too hot for me  As for Javi - well I'm worried he might get lost on the way to Liverpool - so I was thinking that perhaps I could keep him here after all and find some uses for him - the lawn needs mowing for example, or he could build me some kind of shelter in the garden to shield me from the fierce sun's rays!

I caught some of the match against Paraguay this afternoon (nothing else on TV  ), and our commentators said the English guys were almost collapsing in the 31 degree heat, which is exactly the same in Germany as it is here. That's quite hot, Rosie, for UK! Altho I have been there in a heatwave before, which was not so pleasant esp without air conditioning.

If you hate the heat plus humidity plus pollution, don't come to TMS TO -- it's unbearable. For a few days a year, I get the sunburn of my life, dehydration and virtual heatstroke... it's a killer! But one does it, all for the love of one's fave guys! ;)

Yes - I know what it's like in Toronto :ras: One of my girlfriends used to go there quite often when her sister was married to a Canadian and lived there for a few years - and she was always complaining about the humidity. Yes- it's easy :) Just ring up your own Bank and tell them that you want to do an International Money transfer to a Bank in Austria, and give them the details of the Bank Account in Kitz that you have been given. They will arrange for this - and the money normally comes out of your account straightaway and reaches theirs in about 3-4 days. In England, doing this always costs me lots of extra money  because we are dealing in a different currency (pounds to euros) - but as your whole transaction will be in euros it shouldn't cost you anything extra. Your Bank will normally then write to you with details of the transaction for your reference. Hope that helps.

Eléa, you should only be careful that you have the IBAN and Bic Code from the bank in Kitz, because with these two numbers you don´t have to pay for the transaction. Otherwise there is always a special amount you have to pay when you transfer money to another country.
Normally I am sure the bank has given you these information, but you never know...

And, as I already said yesterday, looking forward to meet you in Kitz again :)

Sjoukje  It's so good to see you here again! I actually thought I had upset you with my rather outspoken dislike of Rafa - not the bunny of course - he's GORGEOUS :inlove: and I'm glad he likes his new cage!

Don't work too hard:) aawwwww no don't worry about it  I know you're not a big Nadal fan

Trust me on this one...if something is bothering me I will let you know about it ;)

I'm really happy Rafa won :bounce: :woohoo: feel a little bit sorry for Roger though :awww:

Almost time to go on my break

 And I am pleased to hear that - things are aways best out in the open so they can be cleared up and discussed.

Anyway - enjoy your break - I guess I will go offline and watch some tennis for a while - England has wall-to-wall tennis on TV for the next 3/4 weeks now that grass court season is here  I'm not a grass fan - but at least it will give my eyes a rest from staring too closely at the PC and I guess Agassi/Henman could be good. And in my opinion, - grass court tennis is at least preferable to that other game taking place on the grass at the moment  World Cup ................  :bolt: Sorry about that - but me and football do NOT mix!!!!!!

It is 35 C here - so I'm certainly not doing anything else but lying down in front of a fan watching TV!!! Seems London has ground to a complete halt today because all the signals have failed on the tube network because of the heat, and they are issuing health warnings at Queens - so it's best to stay at home!!

ooooooooooooh it's really hot here! Just like in London! I'm glad I moved Rafael inside the house..... the poor thing would melt outside!!!

I wanna go to the gym tonight too..... work up some sweat! The weather will be going worse tomorrow or on Wednesday, so I better go tonight.

And actually they say it's getting cooler here later in the week - there will be storms tonight and tomorrow and then about 23 for the rest of the week which will be great!

Good luck at the gym - I really can't cope with that kind of thing in weather like this,

And - sorry - it's the Brit in me - I love my Timmy - so I'll say "Come on Tim" He's winning too!!!

I am off to lie down again and watch a bit more if it - it's too hot sitting at this computer!!!!

Hello everybody :wavey: Well....there really is nobody here now  , it seems you are all suffering or enjoying the heat in Europe. We have 30 to 35 degrees all the time, but you get used to it real fast. Right now it's also rainy-season :rain: , which means it's super humid, even when it's not raining.

While all of you are planning trips to the European tourneys, I still have my plan to go to LA. Since I have lived just north of LA, I still have lots of friends there and my brother lives close by aswell, so it really is a cheap tournament for me, because I don't need an hotel. Just airfare is sooooo expensive so it all still depends on the bankaccount. Bankaccount looks pretty sad at the moment  , after my trip to Europe.

Okay girls, enjoy the warm weather while you can. Rosie, don't move to much because that makes it worse! And Sue, I'm sorry about your car.

Sensible girl :yeah: I hate going to gyms at the best of times - let alone in weather like this. Chill out and have a beer in front of the TV or something girl - that's what I'm going to do! Well a gin and tonic actually, but you know what I mean - talk to you tomorrow I expect :)

Well, normally I like hot weather, but 25-27 C would be fine for me, I don´t need 32 C like we have today
It was not really possible to work today, because we don´t have air condition and all my concentration got lost in the heat!
Anyway, I don´t want to complain, because if I have the chance to choose this weather or rain and 15 C, I definitely choose todays weather :)

Sjoukje, sad you did not find any shoes, but a memory card is something nice to buy as well ;)

It has just stopped raining here, so I'll walk the doggie in a bit and I have plans to go see The Davinci Code tonight. I have the book and I quite liked it, I'm just very curious how/if they have managed to put all the little facts in the movie. It worked fine:yeah:. Everyone having codes when we saw someone else's favourite  Just call the person....no need to answer the phone..... perfect! 40 degrees C would kill me - anywhere  But I guess it helps when you are by the sea with the refreshing sea breezes instead of stuck in the middle of a city. I remember being in Amsterdam once when the temps were about 30 C - and it was just as vile as London!

And good luck with the shoes :)

It's making it hard for me to eat now..... not that that is a real problem...... in Hamburg I only ate after Fernando had finished his match or practice :o :o :o , and I lost 3 kilos when I got home! So it's not that bad really.

So I had a lovely "schaafijs". They scrape the ice from a big block of ice and then add some syrup and milk if you like. I love this! I had a cherry flavoured one!!! :D

Also found some shoes :) not slippers but espadrilles like these:

Sjoukje is that the picture with Fer and LaLo, where Fer is putting his hands through his hair? Because that one seems very soap-worthy.

So you girls are all happy to have less warm weather? I'm still stuck with 30 degrees, nothing I can do about it. But I don't mind it either. Ah well - this is where I have to admit that I just don't do exercise at all :p Whether it's running, or going to the gym or even playing tennis - I am the world's greatest "couch potato"............! I guess I'm lucky that I am the laziest person I know and still remain of only average build - I know I could be much slimmer and much more toned if I bothered - but I just don't bother :p I'm vegetarian and very health conscious about the food that I eat - but that's as far as it goes! You lucky girl, being a couch potato and still remain slim. Damn you. Although I really enjoy exercise, so it doesn't bother me. I don't do it to stay fit although it's a nice side-effect.

About the golfers, they had a juniors tournament a couple of months ago and some of these 18 year olds, flying hormones, boys kept waving at me. I wonder if Sue's getting rained on in Liverpool.

I love walking (I'm allowed to take a 30 minute walk every day during work hours) and playing tennis.

I try to eat healthy - I prepare mostly vegetarian dishes at home though these days I really enjoy fish and seafood :lick: I've lost a lot of weight in the last two years but it's slow going as I have an addiction to chocolate :o First thing in Sainsbury's I headed for the Jaffa Cakes & digestive biscuits. In Paris it was mousse and magdelines w/choco in the center. :tape:

Well I wouldn't call myself "slim" - just kind of average - 5ft 8in and an English size 12 if that means anything to you at all  I've actually put on about 7lb recently because of the medication they gave me after my surgery - but I can't be bothered to do anything about it

And  to the boys waving at you from the golf course!

Isa - I'm not sure what the weather is like in Liverpool - it's pouring with rain here in the South right now, but there's often a significant difference between our weather and the stuff they have up there. The South is usually drier and warmer though - so I don't hold out too much hope for her  but hope I'm wrong. Well I wouldn't call myself "slim" - just kind of average - 5ft 8in and an English size 12 if that means anything to you at all  I've actually put on about 7lb recently because of the medication they gave me after my surgery - but I can't be bothered to do anything about it

Sounds slim to me, but maybe you prefer "health looking"?

Hi Isa :wavey:

You get to take a 30 minute walk during workhours? Wow, that's nice.

I do think poor Sue is getting rained on. Hopefully she's still having a good time. At Roland Garros I was so cold, I think I even shrunk from the cold  , from the wind and the rain, but I still had so much fun. Just sad I missed you in Paris. I do believe I have seen you, during the Ferrer/Gacia-Lopez match because I was gazing at Juanqui through my super-zoom-lens. :haha:
It WAS cold at RG - but of course I had my lovely Javier to keep me warm during the Garcia Lopez match!!!! Well sitting so close to him kept me warm anyway :p

Okay Rosie, you've got to stop this. It's making me crazy with jealousy. Not just the fact that you were so close to the lovely Javi, but you were actually warm, while I couldn't feel my fingers and toes anymore.

And "average" looking, I don't think our Javi would be hanging out with "average" looking ladies. ;)

Not sure if he was hanging out with me or I was hangnig out with him :p Though I did have my seat first so I guess he could have chosen to sit somewhere else!

Sounds like he was trying very hard to get close to you Rosie. It was a court with lots of seats, so me thinks Javi likes Rosie. :hearts: :haha:

:o In my dreams - he can do far better than me I can assure you  Guess I'll just have to go on to Plan B and get him drunk in Stuttgart! I need to enlist help though as I need people to "distract" David so Javi doesn't have to work all the time - any offers!?

I'll distract David, although you may have noticed I do also like Javi a little. ;) Just wondering how exactly I will do that from Costa Rica?

Sounds like a nice slogan for a sportsbrand. Maybe they should make it "impossible is nothing"? :D

Rosie, I was just checking Elea's RG gallery and found a VERY nice pic of my two favorite coaches. It's in the Gaston/David training section. Have you seen it yet? It's lovely. :hearts:

Morning chicas :wavey:

I'm busy at work today! i didn't stop running everywhere for more than 2 hours! and now i'm waiting for 3 russian drivers (who will pick 3 of our trucks) and i'm wondering how i will comunicate with them

Rosie, in fact, i was right about David, he will go to Umag, it's official now... it's bad for me, but my Gaston will go to Kitz as i expected so...

:wavey: Just say to them "Zdrasvuite, kako dela?" which means "Hello, how are you". I always knew being half-Belarussian would come in useful here someday!

Yes - I saw the Entry Lists Eléa and now I have a dilemma  The Entry List is generally better in Kitz than Umag - bt I just can't handle the b**ch from hell in Kitz  So I guess I go back to Plan A and go to Bastad folowed by Stuttgart so at least I'm pretty sure to avoid her for 1 week and both David and Tommy R. are in Bastad. Thanks for the PM by the way

Dasvidanija (that's goodbye to your Russian drivers!) :wavey:

The easiest way is probably to say "atkuda vy?" which means "where are you coming from?" They will probably answer "from Russia" :p but if you say you need to know for the "TAMOZHNYA" that means Customs, and Russia has the most complex customs system in the world  so they will know what you mean!! If not give them a map? Hope that helps a bit :) And if you need to tell them how to "F*** off and leave you alone" - I wll PM you!!! :haha:

My mum who normally faithfully shouts for anything British really has taken a dislike to "puke boy" & was quite happy he lost. At the moment she is watching Verdasco play because she doesn't like Roddick. Maybe I got it wrong about my mum when I said she was a Lopez groupie maybe she is a Verdasco one instead

Lucky you planning your trips abroad I cannot go anywhere until November when we go a cruising down the Nile for the week  I was going to take my mum to Valencia, I'd found a flight conned my cousin it letting us stay with him for a couple of days then found out I couldn't go because my assistant is away in Cologne for the weekend!!
