The name no one speaks...Puerta

Yes, Rafa did have an opponent last year. We all know what happened to him.
Since we are in the midst of making wild speculations about who's on "the juice", let's talk about the one who actually was.

Question: Did you suspect Puerta before his appearance in the finals last year? Why or why not?

yes! the reason why? the quarter against canas... how they were playing at the end.. mario and tommy showed you play after such a time without dope...

Mats Wilander mentioned him yesterday on Eurosport, but you're right. He is barely mentioned. No one is even mentioning him to talk about his ban, never mind the fact that he was in the final last year. It's easy in hindsight for people to say they suspected him, and thought it all along, but I didn't.

when puerta makes the final of a slam the narc squad should be set up in the locker room for the second he steps of court

Lol, Canas. Almost like saying Juiced and Juiceder. Wonder if the same thing would have happened to Canas if he made the finals

I'm surprised JMac hasn't mentioned him yet, although I suspect the closer we get to the Finals, he will say something. JMac likes controversy. He was the first to say Nadal used gamesmanship with the banana.

Well the way things are going with all these alleged doping cases where it turns out to be the ATP screwing up... I'm sure Puerta will be back soon as well.

Yeah that match really got me thinking aswell. although I did suspect Canas more than Puerta because he was more extreme with all the running he did in that match.

A court reduced Cañas sentence because he was innocent (he was only a dumbass), so why do people still suspect that he doped for that match? :retard:

Yeah I suspected something earlier in the tournament, Puerta has never played that way before and the Canas match was another indicatior.

He is a disgrace to the game and i'm glad no one is talking about him!

Because lots of people here are biased dumbasses themselves  Especially if the player in question happens to be from Argentina. I am still waiting for the apologies from people who bad-mouthed Cañas now he has been found innocent of wrong-doing, but somehow I think I will have a long wait. As for Puerta - he was one of my favourite players before and still remains so. His Appeal against sentence was last week - if the Cañas case is any indication it will take at least 5/6 months for any findings to be made public. I heard a rumour that he will be exonerated too - but we will have to wait and see.

Indeed.

Couldn't have said it any better.

And Mariano will be cleared just like Willy was.

As I put in the edited version of my post - I have heard he will be - but that is ony a rumour and will take a very long time to be made public just as Cañas was. In the meantime, I just  at all the the blinkered idiots mouthing off about "doper, scum" on GM and carry on regardless!!

That's great news!!!! Really makes my day....I'm so happy for Mariano. He didn't deserve that punishment at all...the ITF should be ashamed of themselves for nearly destroying his life over nothing.

As for the idiots on this board...no comment. :-(

It's always easier to throw accusements than excuses though. Greetings. We don't know if Puerta is cleared or not yet, but we do know about the official statement about Cańas.

Canas wasn't innocent, exactly. There's a reason he's still out. It is stupid that people still carry on about him being a doper, mind you... but people ARE stupid, so what should we expect? :D

I know...they're wrong with everyone. Looks bad for the sport, and destroys these guys lives needlessly.

I said they should sue the ATP/ITF, but I remember Deb saying in another thread that they can't. I can't remember the reason she gave though.

Some people would die before saying that they misjudged someone

If the appealing court decides that Puerta must be exonarated too, don't expect some apologies either :ras:

It's kind of sad, I hope he makes a come back and proves everyone that he can actually play. . . or not. He seemed like a decent person though, and I can't imagine how much he has suffered because of it. I think he has learnt his lesson already.

LMAO, he's not coming back. Puerta is gone for good. If he does come back the cheater will be old and hopefully won't be able to play.

He is a disgrace to the game and it's a shame people still want this to play and think he's innocent!

Oh. Well some of these people at least have something to back up their opinions.. not that I necessarily agree, but I try to keep my opinion on these things to myself since I appreciate that I really don't have a fucking clue what went down.

Since you're 100% certain he's a "cheater", what's your source? And don't say the ATP, because that would demonstrate that you probably haven't read his cases, and probably don't understand what an appeal is.
