I really do hope we get a Ferreira-Verkerk final just to confound people's expectations and spare us the inevitable Moya-Hewitt rematch (which I bet Hewitt would win now that he's added more aggression to his game, beating Moya on clay last year was no small feat). But if it's not them it'll at least be Ferreira-Hewitt, which I suppose could be interesting... Face, win this tournament!

Lisbeth

Aus TV does not appear to be showing Sydney at the moment in favour of Melbourne. However, I also have to tell you that it's raining where I am in Sydney - I'm not especially near the tennis site but nevertheless, it is raining.

I suspect these 2 things explain the lack of people able to post scores. Sorry guys!

rogerfederer
01-16-2004, 01:40 AM

channel 7 just showed a little bit of adidas international conditions, and it is pouring rain and the forecast is raining the whole day and tomorow possibly. What's going to happen? Was their any case of the tournament cancelling the semis and the finals?? I can't remember of any which occured.. damn I wanna see Martin VS HewiTT!!!

rogerfederer
01-16-2004, 02:07 AM

Lisbeth

Well it's still pouring in the city.

I never understood why they didn't build a roof on that court in the first place, when they were shelling out trillions for the Olympics anyway.

OT a little but Lindsay withdrew

Ando
01-16-2004, 02:51 AM
pretty late it is summer here now, and besides they have lights there.

Lisbeth
01-16-2004, 03:02 AM
They play the night matches under lights anyway, if I recall correctly, but it won't get dark for another 5 hours roughly.

Lisbeth
01-16-2004, 03:02 AM
it's now 3pm. btw.

Lisbeth
01-16-2004, 03:04 AM
That's terrible about Lindsay, I hope she's OK.

rogerfederer
01-16-2004, 03:35 AM

I really do hope we get a Ferreira-Verkerk final just to confound people's expectations and spare us the inevitable Moya-Hewitt rematch (which I bet Hewitt would win now that he's added more aggression to his game, beating Moya on clay last year was no small feat). But if it's not them it'll at least be Ferreira-Hewitt, which I suppose could be interesting... Face, win this tournament!
Agreed.

Go Face!

I think they've resumed play because the livescore at eurosport.com says hewitt won the first set 6-2 (but there are no comments like there usually are  ) anywayz, go Hewitt!!! :yeah:

Ando
01-16-2004, 05:14 AM
Well Hewitt is on a roll, just demolished Verkerk 6-2 in the first set and he looks like he wants to win this one badly, Hewitt should win this tournament,

In the other game last score I got was Moya 5-2

Lisbeth
01-16-2004, 05:20 AM
OMG, www.7sport.com says Verkerk retired hurt at 6-2 down. Crikey this is terrible, all these injuries.

rogerfederer
01-16-2004, 05:21 AM
sounds more like he was sick kim, rather than injured, sun stroke a good possibility

oxy
01-16-2004, 05:33 AM
guess its set for moya-hewitt final cos moya is leading 6-2 4-0!!!!

Lisbeth
01-16-2004, 05:36 AM
I'm glad he's not hurt but I doubt it's sunstroke 0 it's raining and chilly! I hope he's OK for next week, though it does make sense to just retire and rest of he's sick and losing.

Sounds like Moya's in great form.

rogerfederer
01-16-2004, 05:38 AM
ah ok, just assumed it would be sunny :)

rogerfederer
01-16-2004, 05:39 AM
has moya won yet?

rogerfederer
01-16-2004, 05:41 AM
yep he has, 6-2 6-1, moya is in fine form

Fedex
01-16-2004, 05:46 AM
Come on Moya, peel the potato in the Final. (I know verkerk wouldent beat him, only Poo & Max had the chances of beating hewitt on his side of the draw. Are you sure moya won "rogerfederer" because he won by the same score in his previous match!

rogerfederer
01-16-2004, 05:51 AM
im certain, its up at the official tennis site for men (was told not allowed to mention site on here)

JeLuliA88
01-16-2004, 07:16 AM
Go Moya!

claudine140
01-16-2004, 07:35 AM
moya will face Hewitt in the final, finaly he will play in center court, or will they let them play their match on court 1 for some reason????

Moya must play against Blake in the australian open, not easy!!!!

allusion
01-16-2004, 09:16 AM
Not easy, but considering his fine form, I'd tip him to win over Blake.

Moya in the finals isn't good for Hewitt at all, so let's hope it's a good, tight match :)
