If you were the Davis Cup captain...

...who would you pick for the semifinals? This isn't who you think will be named, but who YOU will name if you were the captain. Choose 4 players and 2 alternates.

Argentina v Australia in Buenos Aires (clay)

1 - David Nalbandian - Despite his inconsistent results, he's still unbeaten in clay in Davis Cup and could easily score 2 wins against the Aussies.
2 - Gaston Gaudio - Former French Open champ seems to have his nerves in check and will hopefully be at his best during DC.
3 - Jose Acasuso - He can play like a top 5 player in clay, but also can disappoint big-time (ex. 2006 French Open). Still, I think he can pull through in DC.
4 - Juan Ignacio Chela - Streaky player, but has the goods.
ALT 1 - Gullermo Coria - Has had a horrible year so far, but the natural talent is there.
ALT 2 - Juan Martin Del Potro - Argentina's future star, but might he be too young (17) for DC?

1 - Lleyton Hewitt - He CAN play on clay, plus he's very dangerous in DC.
2 - Wayne Arthurs - Experience counts in DC, and he can score in the pivotal doubles.
3 - Nathan Healey - Actually a pretty decent claycourt player.
4 - Paul Hanley - Has proven to be a great partner to Arthurs in doubles.
ALT 1 - Mark Philippousis - Again, experience counts. Has a 6-1 record on clay in DC, including a win over Ferrero.
ALT 2 - Peter Luczak - Actually, Australia's #2 ranked player (has a ranking of 141 though)

Russia vs United States in Moscow (indoor clay)

1 - Nikolay Davydenko - Mr. Consistency himself, he can easily score 2 points for Russia in singles.
2 - Marat Safin - Okay, I know his form is a bit off lately, but again, I think experience counts in DC, especially in 5 setters.
3 - Dmitry Tursunov - Mr. Clay Court Clown has shown in the French that he CAN play on clay. He still has a perfect DC record in singles.
4 - Igor Andreev - Only if he's no longer injured. Let's not forget that he's the last person to beat Nadal on clay.
ALT 1 - Mikhail Youzhny - Like Safin, his form has been disappointing recently, but he does have the DC experience, including that unforgettable final against Mathieu.
ALT 2 - Evgeny Korolev - Russia's future star, but again, might he be too young (18) for DC?

1 - James Blake - He can play on clay, he can score an upset against Russia.
2 - Andy Roddick - On a downward spiral, but hopefully can recover by the time DC is played.
3/4 - Bob and Mike Bryan - Doubles match could be pivotal, and the U.S. really needs to score in the doubles.
ALT 1 - Andre Agassi - Highly unlikely he'll play, but if has good results in Wimbledon and the US Open, maybe he'll be convinced.
ALT 2 - Vince Spadea - Could be counted on in clay.

First of all,I won't let Kalovic play DC anymore! :haha:

David Nalbandian - The best Argentine so far.
Gaston Gaudio - This man could be very nervous in DC again, :scared: but I think he's better than Coria. Also Australia is not a strong team on clay,he should win one match at least. ;)
David Nalbandian/Jose Acasuso or Jose Acasuso/Juan Ignacio Chela - Nalbandian/Acasuso is the best choice,if Nalbandian is tired then put the second choice!

Lleyton Hewitt - former No.1,and now he's coming,no sense if not pick him!
Peter Luczak - It's very hard to pick the No.2 player,he should be the choice probably he won in DC this year before.
Wayne Arthurs/Paul Hanley - No doubt! :shout:

Nikolay Davydenko - This man is solid like Iron! He never gives up in everywhere!
Dmitry Tursunov - I'll pick him over Safin now. That guy isn't in great from recently and Dima is not hopeless on clay anymore! :rocker2:
Mikhail Youzhny/Marat Safin - Misha seems to play well in doubles!

James Blake - All Americans' new hope on clay! He beat Almagro and proves he can play on clay! :rocker:
Andy Roddick/Vince Spadea - Very hard to pick now.Roddick should be the second choice but Spadea may surprise people.
Bob and Mike Bryan - Do you have another better choice?Of course not! They win almost everytime!

Spadea will never be on the DC team as long as PMac is captain after what happened in 2004. Not even worth discussing :p
