"He was right before me shouting out encouragements to himself, doing little sprints and kangaroo jumps. It was borderline aggressive, but that kind of thing just makes me laugh. He's just another guy and he can crumble like anyone else."
Nadal's next opponent Paul-Henri Mathieu on the locker-room exchange before their last meeting in Montreal.

Good luck today PHM. Hope the Aussie crowd have your back :bounce::bounce::bounce: Allez!!

I've seen Rafa's pre match locker room antics. They're bordeline aggressive and a tad bit dangerous I might add. Paulo will not choke today (Please PHM!!!). He will either be beaten fairly and squarely or ride the french mexican wave to win in 4. I hope the crowd are really vocal and are not afraid to remind Rafa where he is at! Sorry folks I'm getting a little desperate for something, anything to derail the Nadal Express.

Probably not :haha::haha::haha: I don't mind Rafa winning. I just hope that Roger can win RG just once. That's all. Is it too much to ask ? Rafa could then go on to win everything and I wouldn't mind at all. Also I quite like PHM, so I'll be supporting him today.

Only 2 players can beat Nadal here; Blake possibly and Federer. The rest might as well not try.

I'm glad that you're able to admit it.

The French crowd will probably be tough but I like James Blake's answer who also has to play against a popular French player:
"He'll get the crowd into it. I'll try to do my best to take the crowd out of it."

No it's not What can you say about a guy whose game is based on abusing the game insteand of playing it? I mean, his constant jeering, agressive behaviour, detracting his oponent on many ways - and than, like a women, he acts meek and he is "a good guy"... Give me a break. SOmeone should smash the crap out of that primitive prick - the problem is, you don't want to be like him

wrong #2: how many times has he played the clay specialists? how many times has he beaten gaudio, coria, federer, gonzalez, etc.?

Federer a claycourt specialist? Gonzales? And you take coria seriously? Gaudio is a separate story. There are other oponents who Nadal can loose to. What do you think would happen to him against Kuerten who beat federer in three sets some years ago? He almost lost to Puerta last year. He almost lost to Federer this year. There are also other players, some of them you would not think of, who could beat him on clay. Nadal is doing what CHelsea were doing in football - they do not concentrate on play, but on bullyng the oponent THe oponents are stupid to accept such game. Irritating!

well, they are 0 for their last 55, last i checked, thats a bad percentage

Nadal playd a lot of easy tournaments inside of that streak and had considerable amount of luck. He is a very strong claycort player, but not so much as this streak makes it look. There was as much luck and irritating behaviour in that success as his game

the kangaroo jumps are actually a good tactic. i think it's helpful to get the body ready for a tough match, and to overcome inertia. and it seems to be working for nadal so far. doesn't matter what anybody else thinks of this pre match routine. besides, players should be busy concentrating on their own preparations for matches.

What he has done indeed deserves respect, but Nadal himself doesn't. For a long time he has too much media attention on himself, which shows you it is more about him than about his game. And what he does on the court is discusting to me. No player has ever irritated me so deeply, because I never seen such a good liar in tennis before. Nadal is a fake. He lives from his myth, he is not that good. As a player, and neither as a person. Everything he sais in his interviews is fake. Well, I can't writte an essey here... I tried to be short - Nadal is all about himself and not that much about tennis. I am just watching him against this frenchmen and it's so obvious that Nadal is not that good... He has no right to fool everyone around himself - he should appear as he realy is - if it's not too late for him.

My favourites? I like players such as Federer (my favourite!), Nalbandian, Roddick, Safin and many more... I also like Hewitt in a way, he does not pretend to be a good guy. Actually Nadal is the only player that I would like to leave ATP now, or finaly grow up.

All the Rafa fans I know are saying "he's playing so badly, he's playing so badly, he's playing awful"

which is I think, overstating it. No doubt Nadal is a bit off his best but his opponent is also playing extremely well.

Like Federer fans, Nadal fans really overexpect their man to win every single match with absolutely no problems.

This match ain't a sprint, it's a marathon and we've seen how good Nadal is at finishing off marathons.

I'm not just saying this because I am a Nadal fan, but the last point of the match that was called out looked like it could have touched the line. I wish that the ump had checked the mark, to be honest. (I am not trying to whine, I would have liked it if the ump had checked it regardless of who was playing.)

Stil,, awesome, awesome play by PHM. Well done.

They showed it again with the eye hawk stuff. Clearly out. Don't worry, the match is far from over and Nadal is still the big favourite.

It is the stratergy to beat Nadal, but difficult to execute particularly over 5 sets.

Don't watch a match because you want someone to lose in order to save your favorite from having to match up against them, watching Nadal lose to anyone is amusing, but not out of fear.

Jesus christ, the Federer Express is full of cowards, sitting at home in front of the television getting their emotions in a bunch over a guy that owns 3 GS' at the moment. I'd rather see Roger lose in the RG final to Nadal than reduce myself to this. How weak can a person really be ?

Interesting to see the RG crowd cheer wildy, clap, and sing chants like hooligans when Rafael df's but when P-H did it the next game the silence was deafening.

The crowd is pro-French. Nothing we can do about it.
But too much booing for the defending champ!

All home crowds are like that.

Nationalism/Patriotism is rarely pleasant. It is invariably my people/country are better than yours.

Nadal is in a real match and could possibly lose. This is pretty exciting!

I like Nadal but sometimes his jumping up and down on oppenents mistakes is a little distasteful!

about the crowd: :bigcry: it's like a davis cup match. I love it. I'm sure they'd be doing the same thing to Fed if he was playing this match.

Yep. Jingosim has always ruled this crowd. It's pathetic to constantly have to listen to Mary Carillo make excuses for them.

Plz stop flaming ppl. And you're repeating yourself. Yeah, yeah Nadal sucks, we got it already. I am NOT a Nadal fan and want PHM to win, but you're rather rude.

I deeply think that PHM is just preparing the mother of all chokes, the one which could make him even more famous. Can't wait to see him serving for the match.

Actually this crowd IS worse because I didn't hear one person cheer for Rafa when he just broke PH this last game. Rafa at least had people cheering for him at USO. snap snap! :)
