Well done Gaston:yeah:

JC really needs help... He led 5-3 in the first set, 5-2 in the second set, and had a set point on his serve in the 3rd set... :help:

Well done Gaston:yeah:

JC really needs help... He led 5-3 in the first set, 5-2 in the second set, and had a set point on his serve in the 3rd set... :help:

And he still managed to lose. Sometimes tennis is more a mental than physical game.

enough said. if you can't win at least one of these sets, you have serious problems.

for gaston, maybe he needs matches like this to come back to the right track.

Nice job Gaston:yeah:

It's sad though for JCF, leading in the first 2 sets and then losing in straights.

either gaudio v moya or gaudio v davydenko

i can't see gaudio getting past daveydenko...davy's too consistent

why pathetic? gaudio is as good as ferrero on clay even better

Gaston fought very hard and played great at the end of the first two sets

Pathetic, JC.

i thought JCF might make it a little more of a battle against gaudio
Ferrero has truly lost his mojo
he cannt seem to advance further in slams
for real Billabong ? was Ferrero ahead & still lost all 3 sets?
ooooouchhh

Next for Gaston is probably Nalbandian. The French Open had not been so kind and put 4 of my faves in the same section.

Ferrero didn't choke. Gaudio killed him in the decisives moments. As I said before, the match was in Gaudio's hand to win or lose.

Nice try by JCF, he did very, very well playing his actually best, but without his forehand, he can't take out someone playing at this level

Being out of the limelight (save for the shorts incident) may be helping Gaudio. He is able to play his game without additional pressure. I hope he keeps level-headed enough to get through the next round.

thanx to ES which flew over to the match during Nadals changeovers  I cud see parts of the first two sets where Juan Carlos actually made Gaston look really strong mentally lol. you totally lack the competitive feeling when you watch JC, maybe its the fact that he cant control the game, especially against top guys....anyway this win should be very good for GG, I hope he can take it into the next match :bounce:

I saw part of the match and all of a sudden I realized that one of the reasons I like Gaudio is that fact that his game is somehow the closest the Guga's. So with Guga out, it's great to see someone playing with a lot of spin and a great BH.
WTG, Gaston.

I think, as expected, it was a very patchy performance from both players. Gaudio made the 1st brain fart in the 1st set, when he gifted a service break to JC. JC then returned the favour by gifting Gaudio 5 games in a row.

Then Gaudio played a few dodgy games to gift JC a 5-2 lead in the 2nd. This time, JC thought it wouldn't be right to gift 5 games in a row back to Gaudio. So he gifted 6.

The 3rd set was quite good from both players. Gaudio served very well and JC managed to hang on to his own service games. The tie-breaker... :scared: JC won the choking battles to start with but then Gaudio overtook him. But finally, JC managed to raise his game to a much higher level of choking, one which even Gaudio couldn't keep up with.

Superb performance all round :clap2:

The next match for Gaston is most likely Nalbandian, I'll be rooting for Nalby because he'll beat Heidi in the semi and send him packing back to the Alps.

Good Luck

:retard:

Look at the draw! I think you'll find that there's a 0% chance of him playing Nalbandian in the next round.

He doesn't play Nalbandian, he plays the winner of Moya Davydenko.

Nice job Gaston...keeping his mind focused with a bad score....I thought Gaston in the second set was going to fall apart as he always does...so nice to see I was wrong and that, in his "way", fought not to lose the set easily and finally won it....:bigclap:
Bravo!

Too bad for Juan Carlos, he didn't played well today, and he missed a lot of chances:sad:

But on the other hand, Congratulations Gastón!!:woohoo:
Gaston had the mental strenght to recover in the first and second set, that great!

JC! :bigcry:

Those leads!

Really bad loss given the leads he had. Gaudio played well though but very frustrating for JC that he didn't close any of those sets out. Good luck to Gaudio in round 4. I agree with someone earlier in the thread who said he plays a really nice game to watch on clay.

Ahh Juanqui! :smash:  :banghead: :armed: What's wrong with you? At this rate, you'll be one of the greatest chokers of all time. I really do think he needs mental help; maybe go to a phychatrist and get a new coach.
As much as I hate to think about it, it makes me wonder if Juan Carlos will ever get back to the top or he's just going to fade away.
But congrats Gaudio.

Juanqui   Not played great though, could've played a little better but Gaudio was amazing on most of the shots. Full credit to him, especially getting back from the breaks in the second and third set :)

The shots of 2003 Ferrero weren't on court. When they appeared, Gaston had nothing to do. That's it. Don't know if it's JC's body or his mind. Gaston is good but he's not Guga. Ferrero was scared to come to the net when he needed to.

But the match wasn't bad at all
