Korda: Greg is scarred for life

Disgraced star Petr Korda said Greg Rusedski would be tarnished forever after testing positive for nandrolone.
The Czech player was banned for one year after nandrolone was found in his system in 1998 and has never been able to shed the image of a cheat.

And he insisted Rusedski, who was vocal in his condemnation at the time, would suffer the same fate, regardless of the outcome of his hearing on 9 February.

"He will always have a battle to clear his name," said Korda.

He added: "People will always remember he tested positive for nandrolone."

Rusedski has insisted he is innocent and has vowed to fight his case to the "bitter end".

Korda was initially cleared but the decision was overturned by the International Tennis Federation.

And he has suggested Rusedski might now be finding out what he went through almost six years ago.

Korda, 36, told The Sun newspaper: "I had won the Australian Open at the start of 1998 and everything was going well for me.

"Then at Wimbledon I failed a drugs test after testing positive for nandrolone.

"I could not believe it.

"I had never, ever taken drugs. So to discover this news was shocking for me.

"I have no idea how this drug got into my blood stream. I did not know what they were talking about when they started using the word nandrolone.

"I hated suggestions I was a cheat, although some players were very vocal about me.

"Greg Rusedski was one of those. I do not know exactly what he said but I am aware it was not particularly nice."

According to the paper, Rusedski said at the time: "If Korda is innocent, tell us why.

"It is hard not to look at him now without having a great deal of suspicion."

I did not know that.

That is very interesting.

I never believed Korda's claims of innocence, but from what I've learned in the last year, I have more doubts now.

I never believed Korda either. And I still don't. I do believe Rusedski, though. Also, the source of the article is really reliable: The Sun.. Right..
