Action Jackson 06-01-2006, 12:29 PM Congrats Martin on making the 3rd round and defeating a good player like Grosjean. Good payday and ranking points for the battler and he showed his best friend Chucho how to get the job done against a good player. jazz_girl 06-01-2006, 12:30 PM Wow, well done :) celcius 06-01-2006, 12:33 PM Saw the end of the match...good job Martin. Billabong 06-01-2006, 12:37 PM yeah Martin was awesome, going for his shots in the important points, great to see him win:banana: shotgun 06-01-2006, 12:41 PM Vassallo Arguello and Sluiter playing a third round match... Julio1974 06-01-2006, 12:48 PM I watched the end of the fourth set. Grosjean made some awful UE in the last game (3 with his forehand, in very confortable positions and one with his backhand). All what Martin had to do was to put the ball in the court. I wonder whether all the match was like this, with Grosjean making these gross mistakes. jazz_girl 06-01-2006, 12:52 PM I watched the end of the fourth set. Grosjean made some awful UE in the last game (3 with his forehand, in very confortable positions and one with his backhand). All what Martin had to do was to put the ball in the court. I wonder whether all the match was like this, with Grosjean making these gross mistakes. Many moments of the match were like that, yes. It wasn't the best version of Grosjean. Chocobo 06-01-2006, 12:56 PM Horrendous season for Sebastien so far... BlackSilver 06-01-2006, 01:49 PM Horrendous season for Sebastien so far... I would say that "horrendous" is somewhat exaggerated, he made AO QF, and that was the tournament where he could have done something, and he did. He also made Marseille SF, the only tournament on a surface that really favors him in the last times. Sure it isn't a very good season, he had the conditions to beat Vassallo and should be very angry with himself, but the parts of season that really interests him, didn't start yet. Chocobo 06-01-2006, 01:55 PM Ibut the parts of season that really interests him, didn't start yet. You really don't know Grosjean then, RG is his favorite tournament... And I keep thinking his season is really disappointing until now ufokart 06-01-2006, 02:10 PM After the game was suspended yesterday i didn't have a lot of confidence that Martin would take the match. I'm so happy for him :woohoo: :yeah: Playing like this he has a good chance of reaching the second week and i'm loving every minute of it. Action Jackson 06-01-2006, 02:15 PM This is a big chance for him to make the 4th round here and playing Sluiter is a dream for this task. Purple Rainbow 06-01-2006, 02:22 PM This is a big chance for him to make the 4th round here and playing Sluiter is a dream for this task. That reasoning works the other way round as well. Sluiter hasn't made it past the first week of a slam either and is apparently in good form. ufokart 06-01-2006, 02:25 PM That reasoning works the other way round as well. Sluiter hasn't made it past the first week of a slam either and is apparently in good form. The difference is that Sluiter isn't very good on clay and this year he especially sucked  almouchie 06-01-2006, 02:26 PM yeah grosjean should have taken his chances better leading sets to one & facing a possible 4th R with Sluiter at home the draw was open for him to reach the quarters almouchie 06-01-2006, 02:27 PM is Vassallo Arguello the first/only qualifier to reach the 3 rd round Purple Rainbow 06-01-2006, 02:27 PM The difference is that Sluiter isn't very good on clay and this year he especially sucked  Well, Martin Vassallo Arguello isn't the most accomplished player either. For Sluiter this will be the best chance of his career to make it to the 2nd week of a slam. Should be a fun match! Action Jackson 06-01-2006, 02:28 PM That reasoning works the other way round as well. Sluiter hasn't made it past the first week of a slam either and is apparently in good form. That it does, but the one thing Sluiter does have in his favour is that he didn't have to play qualies. Martin is the better player on clay, but he'd kick himself if he didn't get through here. kindablue 06-01-2006, 02:35 PM Go Martin!!!! Purple Rainbow 06-01-2006, 02:35 PM That it does, but the one thing Sluiter does have in his favour is that he didn't have to play qualies. Martin is the better player on clay, but he'd kick himself if he didn't get through here. That reasoning works the other way around too. Because MVA qualified he is on a 5 match winning streak in Paris. We'll see, either player wins and it would be a highlight of their career. I'll be happy for both, but rooting for Sluiter! Pluto2 06-01-2006, 02:46 PM Sluiter-Vassallo Arguello should be a great and interesting match. Sluiter is playing very good tennis. I saw him monday @ Paris, and even though Nieminnen was sick - he really kicked some ass. Actually vassallo and sluiter play quite the same tennis. Really looking forward to that match marifline 06-01-2006, 03:15 PM Well, my sister who studies in Boulogne, in a high school wich must be something like 500 meters from RG, jus phoned me to tell me she thought to have seen Grosjean in a mall in Boulogne. She knows a bit about tennis so I think she's right, plus she toldhe was with a woman his wife I guess, and he was looking rather sad and was wearing a green top so...I assume it was him ( and I really hope mys dear sister whio will come in RG with is able to recognise our number one...) Here you can see the advantages of studying in Boulogne Lucky Cécile ..I hate you !!!! A chance she didn't try to talk to him to get an autographe because he would probably have thrown her ( or something like that) she could'nt know he has lost his match :o BlackSilver 06-01-2006, 05:38 PM You really don't know Grosjean then, RG is his favorite tournament... And I keep thinking his season is really disappointing until now You are the one that didn't understand what I mean. Do you think I don't know that he is a french and would love more than anything to win the french open? Grosjean is past his peak, and his chances to have made something are small at best. Yes is a very bad loss, but most of the tournaments where he can do something are yet to come. It may not be the one that he wants to win more, but are in these that will be a catastrophe if he loose early. vincayou 06-01-2006, 06:45 PM All this is very good news for Nalby. :) justClaudia 06-01-2006, 07:28 PM :yeah: Martin! musefanatic 06-01-2006, 07:46 PM Shame for Grosjean, he did play pretty poorly throughout the match but Martin played brilliantly throughout. Well done to him, much deserved :) Chocobo 06-01-2006, 07:59 PM You are the one that didn't understand what I mean. Well I keep thinking Grosjean isn't that much past his peak (he's only 28, he has still some good years of tennis in front of him), and that he could have done a very good run at RG if he had been just a little fittier and better prepared... Golfnduck 06-01-2006, 08:08 PM Seb  I wish he would have won. NyGeL 06-01-2006, 08:56 PM I think Sluiter will win. He didn't played today and yesterday he just play a 3-short-sets match. Also, is not the same motivation to play against Grosjean at PC than playing Sluiter at court 7. marti_228 06-01-2006, 10:29 PM I think Sluiter will win. He didn't played today and yesterday he just play a 3-short-sets match. Also, is not the same motivation to play against Grosjean at PC than playing Sluiter at court 7. About motivation, have you heard Vassallo Aguello talking? He is even more motivated because he knows what a difficult match he won. I'm not saying he is going to win, I don't know, but if he doesn't, it won't be a matter of motivation. LadyNalbandian 06-01-2006, 10:32 PM what the hell he wrote on the cam? marti_228 06-01-2006, 10:41 PM I heard he wrote HASTA LA VICTORIA SIEMPRE, which the famous phrase of Che Guevara. That shows his spirit too.
