I watched the end of the fourth set. Grosjean made some awful UE in the last game (3 with his forehand, in very confortable positions and one with his backhand). All what Martin had to do was to put the ball in the court. I wonder whether all the match was like this, with Grosjean making these gross mistakes.

Many moments of the match were like that, yes. It wasn't the best version of Grosjean.

I would say that "horrendous" is somewhat exaggerated, he made AO QF, and that was the tournament where he could have done something, and he did. He also made Marseille SF, the only tournament on a surface that really favors him in the last times.
Sure it isn't a very good season, he had the conditions to beat Vassallo and should be very angry with himself, but the parts of season that really interests him, didn't start yet.

Well, Martin Vassallo Arguello isn't the most accomplished player either. For Sluiter this will be the best chance of his career to make it to the 2nd week of a slam. Should be a fun match!

Sluiter is playing very good tennis. I saw him monday @ Paris, and even though Nieminnen was sick - he really kicked some ass. Actually vassallo and sluiter play quite the same tennis. Really looking forward to that match

Well, my sister who studies in Boulogne, in a high school wich must be something like 500 meters from RG, jus phoned me to tell me she thought to have seen Grosjean in a mall in Boulogne. She knows a bit about tennis so I think she's right, plus she toldhe was with a woman his wife I guess, and he was looking rather sad and was wearing a green top so...I assume it was him ( and I really hope mys dear sister whio will come in RG with is able to recognise our number one...)

Grosjean is past his peak, and his chances to have made something are small at best. Yes is a very bad loss, but most of the tournaments where he can do something are yet to come. It may not be the one that he wants to win more, but are in these that will be a catastrophe if he loose early.

Well I keep thinking Grosjean isn't that much past his peak (he's only 28, he has still some good years of tennis in front of him), and that he could have done a very good run at RG if he had been just a little fittier and better prepared...

About motivation, have you heard Vassallo Aguello talking? He is even more motivated because he knows what a difficult match he won.
I'm not saying he is going to win, I don't know, but if he doesn't, it won't be a matter of motivation.
