Tight match with the more experienced Gaudio pulling through. 18 year old Korolev is a good prospect to do well in the future though.

Great fight for Gaston, I hope he gets some confidence for the next stages:) He had lost totally his confidence recently, hopefully he's getting it back:)

Congratulations to Gaudio, too bad for Korolev, though I'm sure there'll be more chances for him in the future. Is his best surface clay? How does he play? I've heard of him plenty in the past few months.

Anyway, Gaudio has quite a tough draw - Korolev, then Ferrero, then Moya or Davydenko - and I think he has the game to beat them, but it'll be tough.

Ive seen him a couple times on tv/internet stream, he has a good serve, very good but sometimes inconsisten forehand, ffrom how he plays I would say clay is not his best surface, but apperatnly he can play on it. His best surface is hard, I think.

Gaudio must kill a player like Korolev 3 & 1 & 2 in 100 minutes or so

good for Korolev he was not destroyed, Gaudio required court time, but won at the end

I wonder how fit Gaudio is to survive more 5 set matches.

During the match one of the comentors said that Gaudio said in a recent interview that he doesn't have any motivation to be on court, that he doesn't know what he is doing at RG and that after this he will think about his future on tennis!!! :awww:
He is having the famous Shakeaspare crises, to be or not to be.....!! Looks like it is what happening to him!!!
Korolev could be the future Marat!! More stable apparently!!

 I am so sad to hear this from Gaston. It is evident he has been struggling with confidence for a long time. I just hope he doesnt quit, I enjoy watching him play so much and when he is on his BH is a beauty

Korolev is so much fun to watch. He hits errors from everywhere, but he also hits a ton of winners. If he can show a little bit more patience, he could have quite a career in front of him.

That's Gaston girls. He was always like that, after and before the Slam he won. I don't see him ever changing, maybe he likes to be that way, I dunno. I think most of the time his big challenge is his own mind.

Still, I like him a lot. And don't even wanna think of the Tour without him.

For the first time I saw Korolev, I really like his game :D That forehand
He remembered me to Gonzo years ago, when he started on the circuit, but in a two-handed backhand version :yeah:
Interesting it will be if these two could face each other on the circuit in any part od the rest of the year

I didn't see the match but Gaudio only had 37 UE's in a 5 set match...That is impressive!
Congrats to Gaudio and please get you head together...so much game so little brain.

My god! Korolev can really hit the ball hard, most of the times Gaudio wasn't even in the TV screen, i could only see a ball returning to Korolev

I could only see the last set and sporadic games of the first four. I must say that Korolev has a great future ahead of him, he is young, he has a nice game, he can stand long matches (The opposite of Murray :o ) and he seems to trouble much more experienced players. I'm looking forward to seeing more of him in the near future :yeah:

Gaudio had his typical brain freeze in the match but at the end he could handle the pressure well and that's what counts. Nice match.
