He comes back from 1-5 to 5-5, saving several set-points.
Then he is up 0-30 and gets pissed because a linesman was in his way. :D
He screams at him, gets booed and a warning and MAKES 8 ERRORS IN A ROW TO LOSE THE SET!!!!!

What a nutter. :D

Yet another example of why Kiefer is renowned for his mental strength and passivity on court. :hearts:

7-7 in the 5th set! Is it going to end one day? Kiefer was 2 pts away..

OMG have you seen the way Kiwi played on his 2 match points:rolleyes: He was SO conservative, waiting for the error which never happened. He goes for his shots during all the match, why can't he do it on match point? Gicquel has a great shot to win this now..

Kiefer just missed 3 MP's

Also, I'm talking 0-40. 3 Mp's on the bounce. Now it's AD Gicquel.

Oh god. Now Gicquel dives to hit a ball that was going out and it's MP again.

Gicquel misses a lob and finally Kiefer gets the GSM.

6th mp was the good one:yeah: But it was damn close:eek:

I thought Kiefer fought well there and didn't get negative on himself after wasting all those mps:yeah:

Kiefer upon winning the match, went beserk and ripped off his shirt and started screaming like a mad man LMAO.

He is annoying sometimes, and has done some very bad things on the court but I have to admit he is pretty entertaining and very strange lmao!

poor Marc :( but what a great fight to come back after being crushed in the first two sets.

Luckily for him, Gicquel is even sillier.

Indeed. But after wasting 3 mps in a row, I didnt think Kiwi would be able to win this!
In the next round Berdych is waiting against whom he is allowed to win. A loss wouldnt be embarassing like a possible upset today.
Anyways, come on Kiefer and keep on fighting! :yeah:

It's always difficult with these booing apes in the crowd, so I'm happy with Kiefer's performance. The W is on his side. Yeah! This Gicquel was a bit annoying too. Surely his behaviour was only emotional, but if Kiefer does it, he's a jerk...

Props to Gicquel that he didn't surrender easily and came back :hatoff: It was his first five set match in his career with 29 years  Unbelievable how hard Kiefer made life for himself after these two easy sets.:o

Thanksfully for the outcome and for reaching the 3rd round, it's only about the W and only this matters and I'm glad Kiefer won it despite playing crappy in many points. :yeah: :D He also never gave up and believed to win it anyhow :worship:

I mean I think it was obvious, and Brad shouldn't have played dumb. Kiefer got tight, because he was its not that hard to figure out BRAD GILBERT!!

Congrats to both players today :)

Hopefully Kiefer will get enough rest for the match against Berdych. If thats the case, I can see another 5 setter coming Friday.

Based on their history, Berdych-Kiefer has 5 sets written al over it. A pity it didn't go to 21-19 today.

not a good match - it was only exciting because it was five sets

Best of whole match is that the some fans in the stadium deserve the loss very much and went home with the loss and that Kiefer not gived them the choke from 2 sets lead, some fans at Roland Garros are really ass-stupid like hell and seem to know not much about tennis :cuckoo: :retard: especially like yesterday what they did with Roddick :o

That was hilarious, especially after he threw it into the crowd and pmac and tim commented that they wished whoever caught it would throw it back
Well, waiting for the error on mp finally paid off for him :)

Really enjoyed the match, especially the way Gicquel came back at Kiefer in the last 3 sets. If only he could've won the match, Kiefer was so unagressive on some shots but really aggressive on others, it was odd!

Anyway well done to him, the rain breaks weren't helpful to either of them, the umpite was out of order on the first rain break. The ripping shirt thing, aaah i was shouting him to put it back on

Can somebody explain how a player wins the first 2 sets 6-0 and 6-1, but then struggles to win in 5 sets. First 2 sets imply an incredibly one sided match.

Gicquel played like crap in the first 2 sets. He had problems to stay in the rallies and made many easy mistakes. He really stepped it up at the beginning of the third set and managed to give Kiefer a real fight until the end. :yeah: I think he surprised many people today, especially this ignorant Eurosport-commentator who called him a loser at the end of the fourth/beginning of the fifth set. :fiery:

Actually he said the opposite, namely that Gicquel probably played the best match of his life and that it was awesome of him to put on such a pressure with his groundstrokes while Kiefer played too defensively.

Actually I hadnt seen the "ripping shirt" scene up until the highlights. Now I am beginning to understand, why Kiefer has so many female fans! ;) What a beast, rawr.

I was looking forward to see either Sharapova or Federer playing on Eurosport. But Kiefer did everything in his power to prolong the match to the point where it wasn´t possible anymore.

Well at least the end of the match provided some excitement...it must be frustrating being a Kiefer fan(?).

I was very surprised at how calm the Kiwi looked in the last set.
Has the guy mellowed with age or what?

Yes, he said that in the fifth set, but he also said at one point in the match (I think it was in the fourth set) that "it would be horrible if Kiefer loses to this loser." I think this comment was absolutely unnecessary.

French TV showed Gicquel and Kiefer in the locker room after the match. It was really said to see the frenchman exhausted and so down.
