Tribute to Fabrice " LE MAGICIEN " Santoro

Once again he proved that he´s one the most talented guys that we´ve seen in the last 20 years. With a normal serve, no power at all and just his inteliigence and ability to find his rivals deffects he showed that in this " power era " in which hard hitting is almost the only thing there is room for pure talent.
Ok he lost to a guy who is ten years younger and a " so-called " claycourt specialist but gave him such a hard time and only tireness avoid him from anothe epic win .
I just wanted to say that every tennis lover should see a Santoro match live before he retires. It´s like watching another sport, you never know what kind of unbelievable shot his gonna make .
I hope he doesn´t quit this year because that will be a very sad day for all the ones of love art on court.

Fully agree with G_Hughes. He is one of the players who is nice to watch in every his match. And these smash returns in match against Acasuso was simply amazing. He plays genius tennis no matter winning or losing.

Hats off Santoro :worship:

I agree he's diferent but he gets tigth and makes some dumb errors. IMO, more consistency and hitting non-slice once in a while wouldn't hurt him.

Gonna miss Santoro when he does hang up his racquet.

Though he lost to Chucho it was very funny watching him tie the Argentine up in knots at times. Such an annoying little man who won't go away.

It's not the sort of play that's going to win you singles slams but we do need a couple of players like Santoro who give you something totally different to look at.

Agreed...I saw a setish of James Blake vs. Santoro at the 2002 Miami TMS; you can imagine the contrast. James would pound the ball really loudly and Santoro would slice it back with a two handed forehand. I remember looking at the crowd at the other end of the stadium, and instead of doing the normal version of swinging their heads side to side at a uniform, sinusoidal pace, they would rapidly look from Blake to Santoro (watching Blake's power shot) and then slowly turn their heads back at about half the speed (watching Santoro's deft slice). Good times. :D

Fabrice is an absolute dream to watch! It's like watching a movie every time he goes on Court.
This year he's teaming up with Amelie mauresmo to play mixed doubles at RG! Now that is something I would reallyreallyreally like to see!
No doubt there will not be even 1 channel show 1 point of any of their matches!

Well, he is a very unique player and it's great that he has done as well as he has with his game and I will miss his game, when he decides to call it a day.
