This match will only be fun to watch when Murray starts cramping... :p

I can't believe Murray is a "professional" athlete. I'm embarrassed to be a tennis fan when I see him totally exhausted after two sets.

A dire sight indeed, but as for potential (fitness withstanding) they both have it in spades.

Murray's back is off again.

He has a weak back apparently and this has caused his cramping problems in the past - but now the back is bothering him again in this match.

His record of winning in spite of his problems is not good, so in spite of being a set all and a double break in the third, I don't fancy his chances of winning much now.

Dispite Andy's poor fitness he's still winning. :)

Murray almost needs help to his chair on the changeover. Obviously his game is ON!!!!
He should win, unless Monfils decides to stop going for winners.

What an awful match! :help:

Murray is obviously injured because he's serving like a WTA player. Monfils seems injured too from his hampered movement...

Good start to the match, but now its like watching a challenger match on one of the best courts in the world. Especially Monfils game anyway

Its often like watching a comedy show when you watch the skeleton play, I believe there was even a kids show about these cartoon skeletons. Murrays acting skills would have been appreciated in that show.

Also hilarious watching the one trick pony show, awful awful drop shots and he overdoes them beyond belief.

 Monfils reaction after the query where Murray clearly hit a ball out. Monfils looked at the umpire like 'What do you think this time?!' LOL

It is a shame to see the droppy overused by Muzza.

Possibly murray is in such bad shape he cant generate the force required in a forehand/backhand drive? So has to take it easy and hit droppers  I dont believe, he could be that thick and lack any type of brain to be hitting those dropshots on purpose everytime? Who knows  Maybe he is that thick?

Yeah, I was going to post a comment like that too! Worst of the tournament, and worst I have seen this year. Possibly worst I have ever seen too.

Murrays attempts at poorly imitating coria in the final, really arent up to his usual acting standard; so we arent even getting the enjoyment of watching those kind of performances.

Turned on t.v and saw Murray and Monfils. I had hoped they would finish quickly but each game seems to last forever. No one is being aggressive and they look like they're hitting partners or something. Most boring "marathon" I've ever watched.

Everybody is asking calls to be checked, but it was incredibly pathetic what an idiot Monfils was in the third set when he did the antics to the ref and line umpire. He should be fined for such gesture like giving applaud to line judge and impire after they called a ball out that was out by two meters. The next point he did the same again and one point later he again checked a mark that was exactly on the line and the umpire again gave Murray the point. I knew since Sopot that Monfils is a prick and I was said a racist then when I said that (because if you critisize gays you are automatic homophobic and when you do the same with black players you are automatic racist), but it stay with it after today seeing his stupid show with the umpires again so that even the French crowd booed on him a bit because it was too much

Come on. Murray was injured. He did well to fight as hard as he did. It's not his fault Monfils was too useless to quickly put him out of his, and indeed our, misery.

Have a go at him for his cramping, which is ridiculous, but this isn't the same thing.

Murray is 'injured' every single time he loses a match.

Bottom line: his fitness is a joke!

Sounds like an awful match. It's frustrating for Andy that it is his own fitness that costs him often, rather than superior play from the opponent. He needs to get fitter. And fast, because to get to where he is after just one full year on tour proves he has the game to succeed. The fitness is just a huge liability that's holding him back.

Richard Gasquet does have the advantage of being born with much more talent than Monfils.

The first two sets were quite entertaining if tactically a bit bizarre from both of them. Then Murray's latest physical ailment kicked in and Monfils went mental walkabout and the match descended into drivel. I stopped recording early in the 5th and deleted what I'd recorded. I was glad when it ended. I appreciate Murray not wanting to quit matches in spite of the pain but I'd rather he had today.

After the third set Andy Murray, even with a back injury, probably thought he could still win. He played badly with the back problem in the 3rd set and still won it 6-1.

Yes but watching the match, I knew Murray could only win if Monfils played like crap with no ability to find the court for 2 whole sets, which seemed totally implausible - and once the 4th set got underway, sure enough, Monfils woke from his slumber and located his forehand again.

Gael acted like a stinker a bit during the (not very good) match. But I liked his remarks afterwards about his stinkerness.

Q. Wasn't very happy because you disagreed on a number of shots. You called in the umpire to verify.

GA╦L MONFILS: I'm not giving anything in. I'm not giving anything away. I mean, when you're a bit tense, you really have this habit of wanting to be sure that the call was right. I mean, I asked twice, and twice I was told that there isn't a mark. I mean, honestly, that can't be possible.

This was nothing against Andy. It's just because I was very tense, I wanted to be reassured. I hope he didn't mind. If he did, I'm sorry.

....

Q. At some point they were jeering.

GA╦L MONFILS: I thought it was rather funny. But after I think it's part of the game. Sometimes you're not in agreement with the crowd. I think they were probably right at the point. I probably deserved that. You just have to let it pass.

Gael, you are a cutie. :)

Apparently the little skeleton murray is going to be wearing a paraguay shirt :tape: when they play england. Letsbetter, I hope he recieves a warm welcome when he comes down to eastbourne to play davis cup, if he actually does wear that shirt.
