So who will come out on top? I think that Almagro is an extremely talented clay courter. But is he being hyped too much? All in all I expect Blake to win in 4 sets. Any opinions?

I hope that Almagro wins, but, who knows???????????????????????????????????????????

Blake is good too.

Almagro in four.
If he plays the way he's been playing on clay this year, I don't think Blake stands much chance of winning the match.
Nico will eventually prevail.
Not that I am not rooting for James.

Blake is not in that bad clay court form. He lost a close match against Ancic who is doing fairly well on clay right now, so I doubt he'll lose in 3 sets.

Almagro - in three or possibly four. I don't think Blake has the clay court game to do significant damage to Nicolas. James has only won three matches on clay this year - can't see number four this week.

I think Almagro has to be considered the heavy favorite here. He's one of the best clay-court players right now, he's in great form, ready for his breakthrough. His backhand against James' will not be pretty for James.

However, James shouldn't be taken too lightly. He has been playing well on clay, even the matches he's lost, and I wonder if Almagro peaked a little too early in the clay season. James certainly has the capacity to win a lot of points, and I think the match will turn on who plays the big points better.

I'm hoping that Blake will win. Please, James!!!! Fight Wednesday (that's when they play right?). But from what a lot of you say Almagro is great on clay. Could be a close match, could be a spanking.

what a match it could be
looks like a thriller
I have watched Nicolas Almagro since a few years ago & he showed lots of potential
to see him advance & improve in a short time is great
I think he is a dangerous floater, the kind very much capable of an upset.
he played both Nadal & Federer, & more than handled his own
probably the one player who as managed to play toe to toe with the top 2 players
blake has a tough match

if Almagro can outlast James in the first 2 sets, he can win this. that is when James is at his most dangerous.

Almagro is favourite, but I have been surprised by Blake's form on clay, and we know that he relishes young spaniards, especially when they are favourites.

James might win the first set, but the final three will definitely go to Almagro. I honestly can't see Blake pulling this victory off.

Wow ... I've never heard of Almagro until a couple weeks ago against Fed. Now people are saying he's the next great clay courter. I'm getting hyped for this match as if it was a semifinal or something. Looks like it won't happen until Thursday...giving Blake another day to work on his game & figure out what to do. Come on God ... bring in some baking sun to speed up these courts. Blake can do it. Attack his forehand Blake & remain patient. We've gotta get Blake to the Quarters so he & Nadal can clash!

In a way IŽd like Blake to win so Nadal can take care of him later. It is owed. But it could go totally wrong, so Almagro, do the dirty work.

You're a Nadal fan, you can't act scared. Nadal isn't scared of Blake on clay. It would be an entertaining match because Blake would come in confident based on their past & Nadal would be confident because he's the king of the dirt.

I would love to see that match but unfortunately Blake has to figure out a way to beat this Almagro dude.

It would be a rather amusing tournament if Rafael beat Blake and Roger beat Rafael.

Blake will be demolished. Almagro is a different class on clay. He's only lost to one player this spring clay court season besides Federer and Nadal.

No chance of Rafa meeting Blake on the dirt, the only meetings they will have are on US hardcourts

I'm actually surprised by James recent clay form but I have to say Almagro is in a different league. Almagro in straight sets

as crappy a clay season, as gaston has had. He is the #3 clay courter. Nalbandian/almagro/gonzalez are all in the next tier.

Blake leading with a break 5:3 in the 3rd set! Come on!!
At bp Blake, Almagro fell and couldht hit the ball properly. After that the young spaniard was mighty pissed.

Almagro can't hold serve sitting on his ass.

Blake wins 3rd set 6-4.

Completely agree. I said on the first page of this thread, "Blake in 4" and I'm sticking with that score. I do think Almagro is a bit overrated. I also think Gaudio is a by far better clay courter.
