Too bad Santoro couldn't have gone further in the tournament, but congrats to Acasuso!

congrats chucho!
santoro
11-9 whaouu!, the end was terrible

05-29-2006, 02:02 PM
Santoro was exhausted and who could blame him, he could barely walk by the end of it. Still credit to Jose Acasuso for hanging in there

05-29-2006, 02:04 PM
Fab
But :worship: for the effort.

05-29-2006, 02:05 PM
Chucho:woohoo: Well done man, he looked so relieved to win it:D! Keep it up:D!!!

05-29-2006, 02:06 PM
Chucho could have won this match a hundred times  But no, he doesn't like having things easy as they come, plus Fabrice is an amazing fighter. I'm sure he'll be better in doubles in this tournament :)

Congratulations for both.

05-29-2006, 02:07 PM
Great match for both
Fab=>Respect :worship:
At the end of the match, he was putting his towel over his head like in Bercy, he must have been very tired :p

05-29-2006, 02:11 PM
Fuck! :(
Fab would have merited to win this after the great comeback!

But oh well. Chuchos serve and fh just too powerful starting from 5:5 in the last set.

05-29-2006, 02:12 PM
 Fabrice, you put up a great fight, and I wish the result could have been different. Better luck in doubles.

05-29-2006, 02:13 PM
Chucho... :woohoo:

Fabrice.

05-29-2006, 02:17 PM
Fabrice did some wonderful things as always but Acasuso was the better player and deserved the win.

05-29-2006, 02:19 PM
Congrats Acasuso :) Sorry Santoro

ae wowww

Santoro is so mentally tough; as you can see he was 2 sets to love down, and came out today 2-4 down in the fifth. Most players, even if they did not tank, would not truly believe they could win. It shows just how long this guy is willing to fight for :worship:

05-29-2006, 03:18 PM
Fabrice  It's always so great and enjoyable to see him play and he did have his chances, it'd have been great had he advanced a few more rounds. But congrats for the fighting spirit and amazing display of magic as usual! :yeah:

Well done, Acasuso! :yeah:

05-29-2006, 03:24 PM

05-29-2006, 05:28 PM

Well done Chucho, but I think you could finish this match yesterday in 3 straight sets ;)

05-29-2006, 06:55 PM
Well done Chucho, I was amazed how mentally tough he was on those last games!

05-29-2006, 07:45 PM
Fabrice played a great match, just a shame he didn't manage to break Acususo. Brilliant fifth set, bet they're both knackered now! Well done to Acasuso though :)

It's 6 hour matches like this that make it a good idea for Roland Garros to start on Sunday. ;)

I only saw the fifth set, but it seemed to be a good match. Acasuso was too good today and too agressive from the baseline, some very good shots from him and at the end it was overall solid again. But Santoro made it always again and again exciting when coming to the net. Nevertheless, from only the part of the match that I saw, I didn't really have the feeling that Santoro wins this because Acasuso was mostly holding his serve more easily than Santoro overall, but then again this doesn't mean anything and it could have changed as we have seen plenty of examples in the past already.

When Acasuso served for the match a 2nd time at 10-9 and missed this unbelievably easy high forehand volley at the net for 0-15, I thought "damn, now don't choke this away, that's horrible". But he recovered and then finally won it! :) why win in three sets when you can do it 11-9 in the fifth ;)

what a match
the magician is never one to bow down
it looked like it could either be a quick match or a marathon
the crowd must have been on the edge of their seat
