After a week in Portugal without tennis or computer, slowly letting my body get used to colder temperatures. Holland is still shockingly cold tho, so the transition period didn't do much for me.

I have just spend an hour reading up on what happened in the tennisworld.
I'm so happy David had a good and easy first match, with Rafa and Roger absent, if David is 100%, I smell a little chance.

David's match tomorrow is second on court 2.

Hi Linda welcome back :wavey:
This is from Tommy Robredos blog on the atp site it made me laugh :D
This morning I got up at 9 and had a little practice with David before our doubles match with Chris Haggard and Wesley Moodie. We tried changing sides today; we hadn't been winning with me playing in the ad court so I switched to the deuce court. It worked well in the first set! We won it 6-1. But they kicked our butts in the second set and then they won the Match Tie-break. Afterwards we ran and did weights.

:) Must admit I'm enjoying Tommy's Blog - whether he's talking about his infamous Brazilian models or turning off his cell-phone to watch the football uninterrupted........... he seems to have a nice sense of humour that I wasn't aware of until now. Perhaps I'll have to watch him more closely in the future. Anyway - David beat Serra 6-1, 7-6 :bigclap: Vamos!!!!

Unfortunately Linda nothing will change his mind about him needing to see a shrink thou it's better than him saying he's gay!! I'm not sure about convincing he stuttered again when he was serving for the match at 5-4 I know because instead of an hour for my lunch I got 25 mins!
I hope if Barcelona win - thou of course I want Arsenal to win - he doesn't have too much to drink because he's on first on centre court.

this is the (short!) press conference after this match:

Press Conference with DAVID FERRER

Ferrer - Ferrero 6:2, 6:4

Q: That wasn't a difficult match?

FERRER: It was pretty difficult, even if the result doesn't really show it.

F: After beating him now and with Roger and Nadal not here, do you see yourself as a favourite now?

FERRER: No, no, I don't see myself as a favourite. There are many good players and I take match after match. I don't think about the title yet.

F: So who do you see as a favourite?

FERRER: There are many good players who are in good form right now, like Robredo, Gonzalez and also Blake.

i think you can see it on video here:

You might be asking: Where was David Ferrer? Well, he was in his room watching the match by himself, and according to his coach Ferrer was going crazy also almost 'breaking everything'! He told me that he didn’t want to watch the game with everybody else because he was afraid that people would be annoyed about him screaming too loud.

:awww: Sounds a bit like me, I was even yelling while watching the Rome final, even though it was over hours beforehand. :o

*Ljubica*

About the first set tie-break................David just got tight - pure and simple. He saw a Masters' Series semi in front of him - and he got too nervous - it happens to people all the time. I thought it was a great match and thoroughly enjoyed it. There were some wonderful shots from both players - David fought hard and chased everything down, but Tommy played better in the big moments and deserved to win.

As for crying Elea - tennis is NEVER worth shedding tears about in my opinion  Maybe you think I'm hard, but there are far more important things out there to get upset about. At the end of the day, it's just a game and they are paid damn well to do something they enjoy doing. No one out there is ill or going through any dreadful personal family trauma - and in fact if I know David - he'll be in the Bar at the Hotel by now having a beer and a laugh with his mates - and Tommy will probably join him!!!!! You win some, you lose some to my way of thinking - there will be another match in a week or so!

I still cannot believe that he lost that match especially given how he started. As for the tiebreak my shouting at the tv sent the dog into hiding!!! I don't believe I'm saying this but I have to agree with my boy that he lost the match in his head he does seem quite fragile mentally at the moment.
Have to agree with you Rosie it was a great match it was just a shame they had to play each other because given how often they play doubles they must know each others game pretty well. I only hope Tommy goes onto win it. I wonder if the loser has to spring for dinner & the first round.

Didn't cry, but I did twice last year - after Rafa defeated Agassi in Montreal final and when Rafa lost to Berdych 1st round in Cincy (I was at the match but waited til I got home to shed my tears).

I'll be rooting for Acasuso to win the title.

Damn it. I really, really, really hoped David would win this tournament. I thought it would be the best medicine for his mentalfrailty of late. And it would be so great for him to win a Masters title, by now he deserves one. But ofcourse it's not about deserving one, you have to actually win the matches.
When I found out yesterday he didn't win against Tommy I was a little disapointed but I agree with Rosie, tennis or any other sport isn't important enough to cry over. Anyway I had a wedding to go to so I had to be all smiles. I'm having a very hard day today, so you can imagine what the party was like. I had to drink to get warm, is my excuse. It was soooooooooooo cold and rainy. Hopefully next week at RG will be lovely weather.

About our little "Ferrer Fan Convention": I was wondering whether it would be a nice plan to mail David and ask him to have a cup of coffee with us? Would you guys be up for it and do you think David would be up for it? It's just that my husband said "maybe David would think it funny to meet us Ferrer-girls". Feed back on this please! Well, that's more or less what I thought although I'm not so shy. Also he might think we are crazy serial tennisplayer killers, so better not. Who knows maybe he doesn't even like coffee. ;)

No - I've seen him drink coffee before - but I'm 99% sure Javi wouldn't allow such a meeting anyway! When the players are in a big tournament (especially a Grand Slam) - their coaches are really strict with their time - they have the same boring routine every day  - and doing anything a little different (even meeting beautiful women for coffee!) is generally frowned upon in case it breaks their focus

Why he still can't beat Robredo? :banghead: Did Robredo play that well?Or he can't beat his friend always?
It's sad he has a big chance to win this tourney, (now that guy I don't like won! :o ) he seems always so aggressive,he had been into top 10 for some ages,I know now he's not..anyway he still can't win anything, that's I really worry about.

I'd like to see if he will take revenge in RG. :)

Ali, do you know if Sky's Hamburg coverage is interractive or not this week? I'm usually there so I really have no idea  I'm thinking of throwing a sickie tomorrow , because Lily's having some fairly heavy, major surgery, and a lot of serious test results back (plusIi still have a sinus infection), so I won't be in any fit state to concentrate on work, so would be nice to be able to watch something interesting!
