I'm not betting on tennis until Rome but take the more experienced head in the final, Rochus to win

I'm liking Vliegen and probably Davydenko.

Vliegen over Rochus @ +106 - $500 to win $530

I saw the match against Jarkko today, and Vliegen was on fire, if he can keep that up, he should have no problem breaking Olivier. He's also 6'4 and he was getting sick angles on his serve, which should present major problems for Rochus.

I'm on Vligen tomorrow....I had Over 22 games today and I thought it was fugged when he(Olli) was serving for the match at 5*-4 and he ended up losing 3 straight points and got ***** in 2nd set TB to melzer.....I ended up winning, but i hate chokers who can't close out matches.

Nalby will school mr. Donkey tomorrow. Medium Play on Nalby Snalby....

From tennisform.com

Nalbandian/Davydenkoo
Davyd enko needed a pain-killing injection before taking to the court to beat Carlos Moya 3-6 6-2 6-2. "I didn't know if I'd be able to play," said the Russian, who also said he would have to see how he feels tonight before making a decision on whether or not he will make the final.

Copied from another site:

Davydenko relies on needle
From correspondents in Estoril, Portugal

RUSSIAN second seed Nikolay Davydenko has overcome crippling back pain to beat Carlos Moya and set up an Estoril Open final showdown with top seed David Nalbandian.

Davydenko needed a pain-killing injection as well as physiotherapy before taking to the court to beat Moya 3-6 6-2 6-2, a win achieved with just 15 minutes of warm-up.

"I didn't know if I'd be able to play," said the Russian, who said he would have to see how he feels tonight (AEST) before making a decision on whether or not he will make the final.

"In the first set I was nervous, every shot was an error. In the second I relaxed and that made the difference in the end."

Nalbandian reached the final with a 7-5 6-1 win over Spain's Albert Portas.

The Argentine dropped an early break of serve but swiftly put that right for 3-3 before taking command against Portas, whose one claim to fame came thanks to a shock 2001 Hamburg Masters title.

Nalbandian, 24, won the title in his last appearance here four years ago.

"I'm feeling fit and ready for anyone. Davydenko's had a good season and is playing well," said Nalbandian, who broke the Portas serve four times while losing his own just once in 78 minutes on a blustery day.

"This was my toughest match of the week, it was incredibly windy," said Nalbandian, looking for his first title this season after reaching the semi-finals at the Australian Open and Miami.

Nalbandian improved to 19-5 in 2006 despite missing part of the season with an abdominal injury.

With this info, I've placed a high stake bet on Nalby at 1.650 with a 1 ball bookie (Expekt). The potential service probs of Davy's (obvious in the first set yesterday) could benefit Nalby greatly.

If memory serves me right commentator yesterday mentioned some fatigue/stomach problems for Rochus - probably the same Nieminen was suffering - could be a reason for the flip-flop.

Regarding the Davy "injury info": Of course, it could have no bearing on the outcome but I find the info relevant since Davy allegedly would consider not playing the final. We have a strong indication that he was affected (nerves/serve) in the first set yesterday - I'm not sure he can afford to be affected again....

Regarding Rochus/Vliegen injury status: Actually, Vliegen had two small "injury scares" in the semi yesterday. He felt 1) a twitch in the thigh and 2) he went over his ankle at the end of the first set but neither scare seemed to restrain him. Yet, Niemo had his probs and felt unwell. Who knows whether Vliegen may have a problem today...?

All in all - think the "injury stuff" goes both ways in this Belgian fight and is impossible to use as parameter.

Seems like Davydenko retired, Bandy gets another title - won Munich the corresponding week last year before bombing out in the back to back Masters in Rome and Hamburg

Something interesting to note when you fade him next week lol ;)

Davy withdraws and bets are voided.

Else Bandy plays an injured Davydenko

Bandy due a title as well.

time to borrow some money to cash in on Nalbandian!

There have been several instances where an allegedly badly-injured player has actually gone on to win...often it can psychologically badly affect the fitter player

Bandy is fairly weak mentally and dreadful in finals...there is no virtual certainty he will win

Still doesn't change my lean on the outcome though...Bandy! :yeah:

Funny i always had the opinion that Nalbandian being one of the most mentally strong players on the tour.........you cannot be mentally week and do the following :-

1) Come back two sets down against Murray in Wimbledon
2) Come back two sets down against Federer anywhere!!!!
3) Beat Leyton Hewitt in a Davis Cup held in Australia.

So as far as mental prowess is concerned it should be a non issue.

1. Murray cramped and handed it to him on a plate.

Other two fine.

But you cannot deny his mental fragility in finals

I think he showed great mental strength against Murray.

Even after cramping, Murray went a break up and attempted served it out. Great battling qualities when the "enemy" of the crowd.

Although, he doesn't have a great record in finals admitedly

like when i did with Rochus............
