I have a friend in Rome, who will attend that match, because she's a big fan of Juan.

He'll play Hrbaty next round. I think he's got a good chance, especially if Dominik scores as many UE he did against Ljubo. :)

I'm so happy for Fab :bounce: I think he needed a good start to this Tournament and he finally got one :) He started out slow, but it's not how you start out it is how you finish! Allez Fab for Round 2 :yippee:

Now good luck against Hrbaty (moreover, I really don't like him!) !!!

(5)Andy Roddick (USA) vs Victor Hanescu (ROM)
Olivier Rochus (BEL) vs Marcos Baghdatis (CYP)
Jiri Novak (CZE) Vs Stefano Galvani (ITA)
Greg Rusedski (GBR) vs (12)Tommy Robredo (ESP)

Gael Monfils (FRA) vs Tommy Haas (GER)
Fabrice Santoro (FRA) vs Juan Monaco (ARG)
Dominik Hrbaty (SVK) vs (3)Ivan Ljubicic (CRO)

The more I look at the draw, the more I'm liking it. A semifinal appearance would be possible here. Tough guys (Haas, Ljubo) in Fab's section are already out and he'll be up against an out-of-form Hrbaty and then an out-of-form Monfils or, even better, Ginepri in the 3rd round.

The other side of this quarter isn't that tough either: Rusedski(!), Galvani, Roddick or Baghdatis, whom I consider to be a favourite in this group.

Now watch my beautiful scheme be shot down in flames when Hrbaty schools Santoro tomorrow

Well I'm torn for this match. I want both to win and go further. As always in this case, it's heartbreaking. The saddest is that, though 2 Frenchies will play each other, I won't be able to see that match because of my work. All I will say is may the best win.

Well Monfils defeated Santoro 7-6 and 6-2  While sad I don't think it is much of a surprise. The players Santoro must play are usually years younger than he is plus Santoro also plays in the Doubles. So I'm sure it it very tiring on him

Poor Santoro he has no luck at all  Now he and Zimonjic must play
Bjorkman/Mirnyi tomorrow

Choupi
05-12-2006, 07:40 AM
That's what I was fearing. Yes, Gaël is younger. And Fab says himself that clay isn't his best surface. Clay game is more demanding physically for him so I guess it's no surprise. Hope he & Nenad can get away in doubles, though it won't be easy.

Fab & Nenad lost to Bjorkman & Mirnyi 2/6 6/7.

I can't say I was surprised by that result either I think Bjorkman/Mirnyi
are one of the best Doubles teams around. Well on to the next Tournament I guess.

You're right, that pair of Bjorman/Mirnyi is really good and hard to defeat.

Fab was in the stands yesterday for Gaël's match. Together with his coach, Thierry Champion, and Arnaud Clément. I think he'll be there today too. :)

I can imagine your frustration. It's only less than 2 years that I have registered to cable. Before, all I could see was RG and DC regularly. Hopefully I could see some of Wimbledon on a German chanel. That's such a luxury now, when I think of all the tourneys I have coverage of!! All GS, all TMS and some other smaller events. :yeah:

Btw, Fab wasn't in the stands today. But Pioline was.

Yes and it is all because we have that stupid DirecTV! I had been thinking for some time that they couldn't afford The Tennis Channel, but I went online to their site. Those people are doing all sorts of things and making money hand over fist! It was unreal they are into Nascar, an international soccer league :haha: don't they mean an international "football" league, channels in other languages besides English, and the list goes on! I tried and tried for months to get them to get The Tennis Channel and they just wouldn't do it :fiery:
