Towering Thursday courtesy of the Doctor!

Kind of obvious isn't it!

I cannot see Karlovic losing - if he continues to serve this well, it is virtually impossible to break him. Phau is not a strong player and is not all tht confident on clay. I feel that Ivo could play him much as he would on a hardcourt...just continue to play his own game - it should be too much for the German.

Karlovic @ 1.44

I'm tempted to just play this as a large single...there is nothing else on Thursday's card that looks really tempting...Tursunov ought to beat Gil (but I know nothing about him); Melzer and Rochus ought to win their respective matches (not difficult to see upsets); GGL ought to beat Berlocq - but R1 performance was NOT encouraging.

Actually, GGL seems to be more appealing after checking his records. I propose a double:

Karlovic x GGL @ 2.02

Already have GGL over Berlocq @1.55 carried from yesterday.

Odds have dropped to under 1.4 now though :)

1-2 WTD.

still seems a bit :scared: to me to be this sure of Ivo on clay
Phau is having a decent year and did play well in Casablanca last week, and he's on home turf as well!

im liking the G.G.L one alot more myself

I wouldn't hit ivo at those odds. He can lose to anyone and win anyone, depends how his serve is feeling. Might as well hit him only when he's around 1.9+. Just cause he beat Haas as a heavy 4.0 dog doesn't mean he won't lose to Phau as a heavy chalk.

Word of warning - GGL is down to play Rome qualifying...would he want to still be in Estoril on Friday?

The way things have been going, I've decided to not back marginal players (GGL) over marginal players (Berlocq) at pretty heavy chalk.

LOL, same here, I'll take my +0.5 units and run.

I know it is major chalk, but I think I will play Dr. Ivo if I play anything...maybe double with Ollie.

They are probably the "safer" options although nothing is safe

Karlo won't tank a match; Phau is only a little bit better than him on clay
Rochus plays fair and can frustrate RRH who has been off-form recently.

Most other matches either carry big upset potential, or feature injured/ill/players having "committed" to Rome qualies.

I think I'll stay away for another day

Oh man this is too much! I have sat back watching some of my leans win this week...and I haven't put my money where my mouth is on those.

...Karlovic was a gut instinct from the moment I saw the match-up and I'm still unconvinced otherwise...I HAVE to take him! If he loses, fine. But gut instincts are usually pretty accurate. I need to take another player to bump the odds over 1.70. I have to play Karlovic

GGL over Berlocq, Melzer over Greul and O.Rochus over Ramirez-Hidalgo are ones I would have gone for but prices are not too good so I will stay and wait for Friday where I will pound the shit out of Portas to beat Gimelstob if the price is right.

I don't think GGL is in the position to tank a match, especially against a beatable opponent. The qualifying in Rome looks strong and it will be hard for GGL to get through so this week looks like a great chance to get some points and money.

Melzer lost doubles easily today - was it a tank job...if so why? More likely - is he conserving energy because of his illness? Not one to touch imo. Greul is also overrated from his run in Miami.

Yes, we see GGL's position as that. But we're not GGL! The fact is he is still in Rome qualies...players often do strange things in this sort of situation. I wouldn't say the qualifying is too strong for him...he'd get better points, much more prize money (if he took the chance to make the main draw) and better hospitality than he is getting in R2 of this event

Solid challenger claycourter, good form in Miami, a final in Chiasso a week ago against ill Melzer, whose consistency is as big as neutrino

Not feeling as confident. I just layed off a large amount since GGL is 1.4 odds right now, and grabbed Berlocq @3.21.. New odds on my wage @2.0 exactly... Might consider laying off completely and lose nothing if Berlocq wins, or win $83 risk free if GGL wins :)

Easier money in bigger events. These smooes sometimes dont even try in these tiny tournaments.

30 units on Gremelmayr 1.64/Jarkko Nieminen 1.23 @ 2.02 over Peya/Vik - Both players should win comfortably!!!!Feel real good about this parlay, could add Ivo 1.38 for a slightly risk!!!

Good luck - Other leans on Specail K 2.22 over Vliegen/Gruel/Portas/Donkey/O Rochus!!!

Tsvetana Pironkova 5.50 over Sletvana Kuznetsova!!! What about this odds for the young lass, might have to throw some units up since Kuznetsova is so up n down!!!

I can't see any reason why Patty won't beat Ana, like Twist said, 4-0 record all in straight sets (the only close one was 7-5, the others were all 6-3, 6-2, 6-1) with three of those matches on hard which is Ana's better surface while Patty is best on clay and is coming off making the finals in Charleston on clay while this is the first clay tourney for Ana all year.

To sum up, this match scares the crap out of me, LOL.
